Woesh vzw is a local youth-circus (circus school) founded in 2001. Our main office is situated in Bruges, but we also have departments in Ostend, Kortrijk and Roeselare.Our organisation develops around 4 basic working fields: education, artistic and commercial activitities, social circus and De Sierk (this is a local amusement park in the theme of the circus). EDUCATION: Woesh is a circus school for children from 4y till... Everyone who wants to learn the basic circus skills like juggling, balance, acrobatics and clowning can enroll in our school. Expression, motivation, experience success (and coping with failure), teamwork, communication, perseverance, self-learning, ... are all included in our way of working. We do not train professionals, but it does not mean that pupils from our school later cannot enroll in professional circus schools.Our teachers are experienced and motivated circus teachers.About 350 kids and youngsters (and some grown-ups) are participating in the weekly classes.They can choose for the multi-discipline classes and/or for specialized classes in acrobatics.We give special attention to our youngsters (12+). Slowly, we start working towards performing with circus techniques on stage and the making of a circus show. For those who want to become a teacher, they can assist in our classes.ARTISTIC ACTIVITIESIf we do not give classes, then most of our teachers give workshops to organisations, schools, firms, .... Anyone can book us for a circus learning experience. Next to that, we also have some professional animations and circus shows. In summer, we are in charge of several children's animations sites at some big festivals like Cactus, Dranouter, Cirque Plus, ....SOCIAL CIRCUSSince 2014 we get the support of the province of West-Flanders to develope and promote social circus in West-Flanders. This means that each year we set up several circus projects with all kinds of organisations to improve society. We work with people in poverty, and/ or with social, physical or mental disabilities.De SIERKThis is an amusement park completely build around the theme of circus (by the founder of our circus school and now still member of our board). During Easter and Summer holiday Woesh host the park. Our students get the opportunity to work their and show their talents in small circus shows and workshops.
