The Betesda Foundation is a non-profit organization, which was born in 1994, and whose ultimate goal is the comprehensive development of people with intellectual disabilities, and whose mission is focused on offering support, services and opportunities to people with intellectual disabilities and / or development, that contribute to their well-being and social inclusion, with individualized plans and promoting the defense of their citizens' rights and ensuring their safety and protection.
Among our projects, the external services that we offer stand out, such as day care, the family respite program with temporary stays, the new program of accommodation and sheltered housing for the strengthening of independent life, and especially the residence service.
The Belisana Residence Services are designed so that people who for various reasons cannot live with their families or independently, have their own spaces that promote their autonomy, as well as their privacy and intimacy.
This residence is open 365 days a year, and welcomes people with various types of disabilities. During the day (from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.), unless due to illness, a day care service is offered in the occupational center, and after that time the residence schedule begins, differentiating within this two moments and methodologies of work: weekdays, weekends and holidays.
The residence has capacity for 48 users of legal age, although the number of people who live in a stable manner may vary over time, also knowing that most of the people who live in our residence have a disability to a degree of non-serious affectation. During the weekend the number of users is reduced, since the rest usually enjoy it with their families.
To this is added the new residence located in Gran Vía de Hortaleza, which also functions as a day center, and in which the occupational training service and revitalization workshops are offered, without being for the moment enabled as a residence for users.
The main activities that take place during the week focus on occupational workshops and personal care activities, while during the weekend the programming is usually oriented more towards dynamization such as excursions, creativity workshops, and other leisure activities.
As an organization with a vision of the world focused on cooperation and the dignity of all people, Betesda focuses its objective on working to maintain and consolidate a network of services, programs and supports aimed at the general well-being and quality of life of people. with intellectual and / or developmental disabilities, as well as support and reinforcement of security for the future of their families.
