SEGA is a national platform of youth organizations in Republic of North Macedonia, with more than 16 years of experience in advocating for the necessary legal changes for youth participation, information, employment and youth activism. SEGA works on the development and implementation of youth policies at local and national level, connects and strengthens youth organizations in order to activate young people and improve the conditions of their personal and professional development in the Republic of North Macedonia.
VISION
Youth influence on changes and the development of Macedonia, as well as participate in decision-making at national and local levels regarding issues that directly concern them. SEGA as a sustainable and developed youth coalition enables youth to believe in themselves, to accomplish their interests, to create and to build.
MISSION
SEGA works on development and implementation of youth policies at local and national levels, connects and strengthens youth organizations aiming to activate youth and to improve the conditions for their personal and professional development in the Republic of North Macedonia.
Coalition of youth organizations has head office in Prilep, North Macedonia. SEGA continuously works on connecting and strengthening young people to improve their overall state. The main focus of field of work of SEGA is:
• Youth activism;
• Youth participation;
• Youth employment;
• Democracy, mutual confidence and cooperation;
• Community development;
• Information;
• Advocacy and lobbying for youth policy.
According to the strategic plan (2018-2022) SEGA will have three pillars for the next five-year period:
• Youth activism, participation and information
• Development, support and coordination of youth organizations and other youth bodies
• Creation of youth policies and space for development of young people in the society
Within the first priority SEGA will focus on working with young people as users of successful youth policy outcomes. SEGA will emphasize areas treated within the National Youth Strategy: youth activism, participation and information. This priority envisages encouraging continuous youth organizing and participation in schools through strengthening school staff and their support for youth; building students’ capacities to participate; and models and mechanisms for participation. Further, SEGA will develop models for increased access to information for youth and recognition of youth information centers at the local level.
With the second priority, SEGA will strengthen the capacities of all SEGA NGO members through trainings, education and online information and support. Further, this priority includes activities for improving the positioning of Youth Councils in local communities by supporting the strengthening of procedures and rules of work of these councils; cooperating with municipalities towards more efficient support of youth councils’ work; and strengthening their members’ skills for local advocacy.
Through the third priority, SEGA will continue developing youth policies at national and local levels. Considering that the new youth strategy is for the period of 2016 – 2025, SEGA will monitor its Implementation and produce annual reports. At the local level, SEGA will support the preparation of local youth strategies and programmes. At the school level, SEGA will continue advocating for systemic implementation of models and forms for youth organizing and participation.
The executive structure is organized in the Central office, which is located in Prilep, and four Regional offices in: Shtip, Ohrid, Tetovo and Skopje.
Coalition SEGA was founded in 2004 and currently 21 youth organizations are members of the network. SEGA is a member of international networks and associations, currently SEGA is a member of the Association of Agencies for Local Democracies (ALDA), CIVICUS, the European Innovation Network for Inclusion and the European network YouthProAktiv.
