Short presentation of each field of activity:
1. HOME CARE SERVICE
The beneficiaries are people, who require complex care, but who do not yet require hospital treatment; they can be treated in their own homes. Thanks to this type of care the number and length of treatment and hospital stays can be decreased, and the healing process can also be improved. Support is guaranteed through qualified medical and social work staff and also by volunteers who respond to the individual needs of the clients.

Services offered:
- Medical treatment and care,
- Information given on social assistance and rights,
- Medical advice and counseling is available for patients and their families,
- Hiring of medical and mobility equipment and aids.

The “Adopt a Granny” social program is meant to help single, elderly people in need and thereby to prevent social isolation.
We offer:
- Monthly visits, food package and medication,
- social activities, group meetings and thematic discussions,
- counseling regarding social benefits and rights.

2. DAY-CARE CENTERS FOR SOCIALLY DISADVANTAGED CHILDREN

We take responsibility for those children who are socially disadvantaged. Our long term strategies touch main areas such as education, parenting, professionalism, work, family and active participation in society.

We aim to find solutions for the following social problems:
- Children of families with a low standard of living, who have difficulties integrating into the community and cannot meet the school requirements because of intellectual and social underdevelopment.
- Poverty-stricken children living in substandard conditions are physically underdeveloped.
- A high number of dysfunctional families within the Roma community creating an unstable environment for the psycho-social development of the child.
- Families who are at risk due to children being separated from parental care.
- Children who, because of the school system have to repeat a school year and so do not study with their peers, or children who are at risk of school abandonment.

We offer:
- social assessment of families;
- the identification of problems and risk factors;
- family counseling;
- prevention of school abandonment through cooperation with parents and teaching staff;
- promotion of acceptance by the local community;
- children’s study supervision;
- a daily hot nutritious meal;
- health and hygiene education; spiritual education;
- extracurricular activities;
- group skills activities.

3. RESIDENTIAL-NURSING HOMES FOR THE ELDERLY
The residents in our 2 elderly homes are elderly people who can no longer be cared for or nursed in their own home. Therefore we make an effort to offer appropriate conditions and quality nursing care. Every day we strive to establish a family atmosphere and we focus on the social, mobility, medical and emotional health of the beneficiaries. An open, pleasant and friendly atmosphere prevails, where relatives, volunteers and students in training aim to serve the needs of the residents.

4. VOLUNTEER PROGRAM
The volunteer program has gradually developed in the life of the foundation. It has grown out of the request to make the local community aware that each is responsible for the various problems in the society around us. Volunteering is an important resource towards the solution of many of today's social problems.

On the other hand it is also an opportunity for
-the personal and professional development of the volunteer,
-learning a foreign language,
-getting to know another culture and
-discovering and strengthening new skills.

Besides involving local volunteers the Diakonia Christian Foundation has been accredited to send and host volunteers since 2007.
