Organizacijos aprašas

We are an elementary school, teaching children aged 7 to 15. According to the curriculum, we aim at giving our pupils solid basic knowledge and skills (linguistic, mathematical, social and ICT skills). Since many of our teachers have been involved in alternative and progressive ways of education (Feuerstein´s instrumental enrichment, Prof. Hejný´s mathematics etc), we are seeking to teach our children in new, less known ways. We want to keep a positive and friendly atmosphere in our school. We like to have a good laugh in the breaks. We try to view our pupils as individuals, that is why we offer a wide range of facilitative subjects (ceramics, drama, crafts, as well as extended lessons of languages and physical education). There are about 310 pupils and 25 teachers and educators at our school. Our pupils´ parents cooperate with our school and organize various events (a charity sale, the children´s day etc). We offer various after-school activities. Children can play inside (doing the arts, playing table games or rehearsing some sketches for festive occasions Christmas, Easter and the end of the school year). The after-school club is run by skilled and proactive instructors who have mastered the way of working with very different children at the same time. It´s in the afterschool club where children do crafts, play games (indoor, outdoor or computer ones), rehearse for public performances, or do their homework. The after-school club also organizes some events outside the regular schedule (staying overnight in the school, tourist trips to various destinations, picking garbage from the nearby river banks, systematic taking pictures of our town etc). Children can also play outside in our yard, playground or learn various sports in the gym. Our children love our environmental garden. It´s a place with two ponds, bushes, piles of wood and bird feeders. Children can observe many species of plants, fungi and animals and consult biology teachers about their finds. We organize various educational competitions and the best of our pupils take part in annual regional or national competitions. Our school´s website is www.zskom.cz.
