Beschrijving van de organisatie

The Lycée Agricole et Rural Privé de Soule (LARPS) is a vocational High School, created in 1954 and an association managed by a board of directors. We have 330 students from 14 to 19 years old. Our school is located in Mauléon, in the South West of France and our students come from all around the South West region of France. This is the reason why 270 of them are boarding-school pupils. Mauléon is a small city in ​​the Basque mountain located at 45 minutes from Pau and 1 hour from the Atlantic coast by car. The city makes part of a beautiful province rich of natural beauties, history and cultural activities. Proof of its dynamism, Mauléon has many associations working in various fields: sport, culture, solidarity, education, environment ...

There are 4 professional courses taught in our school :
-Vocational High School Diploma "Management of a farm" which corresponds to agriculture and breeding courses. Those students intend to work as farmers or agricultural technicians.
-Vocational High School Diploma "Management of cats and dogs breeding" which corresponds to courses related to cats and dogs. Those students intend to work with dogs and cats as breeders, dog trainers, in the army, the police.
-Vocational High School Diploma "Services to people and to territory" which corresponds to health and social courses. Those students intend to work as nursing auxiliaries, educators, home assistants, nurse assistants.
-Vocational High School Diploma "Technician adviser in the sale of pets" corresponds to courses dealing with the sale of pets. Those students intend to work as salesmen/women in pet stores, garden centres...

The High School employs 50 persons including 30 teachers.
Our school project has two main objectives :
-"Enable each student to be a player in the economic and social development".
-"Look for human and professional development by developing responsibility, education and cooperative behavior with actors from the surrunding world".

The LARPS has participated in European projects since 2004 (including training periods abroad in Spain, Ireland and Great Britain within LEONARDO DA VINCI and ERASMUS+ programs) and hosts European volunteers since September 2017. As volunteers, they have the opportunity to work closely with the students, the teachers and the employees of the school, in order to create an intercultural environment (by organising projects, extra curricular activities, linguistic activities...).

The hosting of European volunteers is coordinated by Pistes-Solidaires, who is responsible of the external tutoring and the administrative follow-up of the project we participate in. The volunteers are in contact with other European volunteers who are hosted in other local organisations in our Department: Pyrénées-Atlantiques.
