In 2013, SEI in cooperation with Tolerant Youth Association started to implement a project Consultation and information center PLUS. The continuation of this project was followed in 2014. The project was implemented according to the annual European Fund for the Integration of Third-country nationals Program 2012 and 2013. The main activities of projects were focused on providing social services and teaching immigrants the Lithuanian language. Besides it, in 2013 SEI with Tolerant Youth Association implemented a project at the national level which was focused on building tolerance among different social and age. SEI was financed by the Youth in Action program in 2013. SEI organized a one-week seminar in Georgia INCLUSIVE MOBILITY TOWARDS YOUTH EMPLOYABILITY in 2014, January. The project was devoted to European mobility schemes as a tool for developing young people’s skills and competencies in order to be competitive in the labor market, avoid marginalization and social exclusion, focusing on migrants in Europe. In the period 2014-2015 SEI in cooperation with partners implementing the project "The Strategic document for the Integration of Third-Country Nationals” according to the annual European Fund for the Integration of Third-country nationals Program 2013. SEI as a partner prepared the study ”Immigrant integration problems and their solutions: short-term and long-term integration measures “. In the period of 2015-2017, SEI implemented a project Intercultural awareness through experiential and reflective learning in the context of immigrants integration (NPAD-2015/10274), which was funded under the NordPlus Adult program. The overall aim was to develop the intercultural competence of immigrants and host society members through experiential and reflective learning strategies seeking mutual cooperation and understanding among different cultures. SEI with partners developed an innovative intercultural awareness curriculum, published a Nordic-Baltic Handbook presenting the best practices. The next project “Children Meeting Multicultural America” was implemented in 2016 and financed by U.S. Embassy in Vilnius. The main aim of the project was to introduce American 20th century culture including arts, literature, music, dance, language, and history to vulnerable children with fewer possibilities involving children with a migration background (immigrants and refugee children). In 2016 SEI in cooperation with Caritas started to implement a new project “Community integration center in Vilnius” according to the National program of the Asylum, Migration, and Integration Fund for 2014–2020. The aim of the project is to provide general and specialized services to third-country nationals in order to improve their integration in Lithuania seeking to satisfy their physical, spiritual, social, and educational needs. In 2016, SEI as a partner started to implement two Erasmus + projects KA2: “Integration through Education” with an aim is to create a web platform with educational materials for people working with youth, especially with immigrants and refugees with open access to them, allowing them to put these topics in provided educational and integration activities, and “Improving the initial education of adult immigrants” which focused on the development of the intellectual product based on digital technologies, which would improve and extend the offer of learning opportunities for migrants.
At the beginning of 2017, SEI started two new projects. The national project is called Multicultural children day Centre Plus with the aim to organize and provide daytime occupation, social, educational, and socio-cultural, healthy lifestyle services for school-aged and immigrant children, with an aim to facilitate their integration into the local community. In October of 2017, SEI started to collaborate with other European countries in the Erasmus + strategic partnership framework. The project is called “Research of Virtual learning methods for soft skills training course program development, and its implementation for multinational and multicultural groups”. It will focus on developing new teaching methodologies for virtual soft skills training courses, to apply different teaching methods and evaluate their effectiveness.
In 2019 the association is organizing training for youth specialists, volunteers who work with refugee and immigrants’ youth.”Creative social problem-solving in refugee and immigrant youth integration “ - the main goal of the project is to develop creative social problems solving skills of youth specialists working or seeking to work in the integration process of refugee and immigrant youth.
At the moment we provide language learning training for immigrants youth and adults, organize and implement local and international projects.
