Beschrijving van de organisatie

The work of the YMCA Leipzig directed to children and young people with the following objectives:
Promotion of personal development, recreational activity, helps and support in case of discrimination and isolation. Also our work orientate for a Christian way of life without a membership requirements, promoting for coexistence between different nationalities, religions and social classes. The international symbol of the YMCA is triangle, which describes that the human should be adopted in its wholeness (three corners of the sign = body, soul and spirit) and promoted. Young people should discover a free space where they can test their growing maturity and ability to co-responsibility.
Activities are 1) School social work and sponsorship of school club in a middle school in Leipzig with a high proportion of immigrants pupils and three elementary schools 2) Open Youth Work in a youth café, which is open 5 days a week and offers a variety of offerings for leisure activities; 3) youth work for young people with different individual and social disadvantages and deficits (disabled person, school's truancy, criminal behavior, youth delinquent );4) Group work with children, teenagers and adults with different conceptual orientation (2 sport groups, 1 choir, gender-conscious work with girls and boys, artistic-cultural youth work);5) holiday's projects and camps for different age groups during the school holidays; 6) Projects for new experiences (climbing, canoe trips, youth meetings, etc.)
The YMCA Leipzig eV is a member of the YMCA National Association of Saxony and the Working Committee of the YMCA in Germany, the Diakonie of Saxony and the Evangelical Alliance. The YMCA work in Leipzig, has a large house and grounds where most of the work takes place. The club has about 60 members.
Motivation for the EFD : through the program, the possibility is given to implementing the international guiding principles of the global YMCA. By participating in the EVS the YMCA Leipzig wants to give young people from other European countries allow awareness of the growing together in Europe to strengthen to be able to bring their own culture and language in. They should develop and expand their own skills. In addition, volunteering has traditionally been a mainstay of the club. Therefore, we have also decided to rent an apartment for our volunteers, they live together in an apartment and learn from each other and can benefit from.
