The association Entre Acte was created to promote mutual aid groups (M.A.G.) in Cadillac and its surroundings. The G.E.M., instituted by the law of February 11, 2005 "for equal rights and opportunities, participation and citizenship of disabled people", have the following objectives
- to help break the isolation,
- to restore and maintain social links,
- to restore self-confidence,
- to support the participation of people in social life.
The GEM operates as a free access meeting place for group members. Two specialized educators are present during the opening hours.
The municipality of Cadillac, according to the sponsorship agreement, provides the premises and ensures their maintenance and charges. They are located in a building consisting of a ground floor, a first floor, a covered terrace and a garden. They form a homogeneous whole, combining a reception room, a multipurpose room, a listening area and a kitchen. The reception area of about 70 square meters, the terrace and the garden are accessible to people with reduced mobility.
The GEM has two salaried animators, both of whom hold the State Diploma of Specialized Educator (DEES).
The animation of the reception area aims at encouraging a participative approach among the members in the implementation of group activities decided collectively. It allows to fight against isolation and to support the participation of each person in the social life of the city. To benefit from the activities, the person must join the Entre Acte association and pay the annual membership fee.
We use a system that aims to develop members' ability to choose, decide and organize the group's activities. The effective participation of members in the life and activities of the group is sought through the participatory bodies detailed below.
- The members' meeting : We always hold two meetings per month. These meetings allow everyone to express themselves on the animation of the reception place and more generally on the functioning of the structure, the life of the group. Ideas for new activities are recorded. As time goes by, we have noticed that the members take advantage of this forum so that their words can circulate freely, with respect, even when opinions differ. This contributes to enriching the exchanges. A report written by two members in turn is posted on the premises. Thus, members can consult it.
- The project group: It is made up of members who gather around an idea for an activity in order to organize its realization. Each group can benefit from the support and advice of an educator.
- The permanent committee : Made up of the members of the association's board, it meets once a month to deal with the association's current affairs in addition to the Board of Directors.
- The Council of Elders: It is composed of voluntary members. It meets to deal with questions concerning dysfunctions linked to problems of non-compliance with the operating rules. It gives an opinion of sanction which is submitted to the Board of Directors for decision.
In the premises, we organize meals, board games, workshops such as computer, "cooking classes". At the association everything is an excuse to share homemade cakes. We take care of our chickens. We have a computer at our disposal which also allows us to listen to music, play games, surf the Internet, write our little diary... We do sophrology, plastic arts, etc. with some speakers. Outside, we visit cultural places, go to see exhibitions, plays, concerts, meet passionate craftsmen... and eat in restaurants. We go on various outings: swimming, bowling, hiking... We have a stand at the Cadillac market. We have a recycling shop "GEM les vélos", open to all, to give a second life to bicycles and resell them. We participate in forums and round tables. We organize vacations in France and abroad.
With the association Concordia Aquiatine and thanks to the financial support of the municipality of Cadillac, we have been welcoming for about 10 years, young people who arrive from different countries within the framework of the European Solidary Corps. The presence of these young volunteers contributes to opening the GEM to other cultures, to creating links between generations and to encouraging rich exchanges between members and these young volunteers.
- This organisation holds a European Solidarity Corps Quality Label. The Quality Label certifies that the organisation is able to run projects in compliance with the principles and objectives of the European Solidarity Corps.
