There are approximately 2300 young people between 15-29 years old living in Budrio, organized in formal and non formal groups. Among the several social meeting points we can mention: the youth center Big Hole, the skate park, the Parish, Piva’s Playground, Torri dell’acqua center. This latter, born from a requalification action of the former water main of the village, is now a multifunctional art and music center. From June to September it hosts art and design expositions, dance performances, classical and contemporary concerts, conferences, books presentations and seminars (among which Dialoghi del comporre, a workshop of European composers that is becoming a proper annual music Festival). It is part of the circuit of the Contemporary Production Centers in Emilia Romagna, a network created to give a new meaning to Culture, Identity and Production. The “towers” are a social meeting points for youth to share ideas and experiences. In the net of museums, on top of Pinacoteca (art gallery) and Archeological Museum, there is the Puppets Museum, location for seminars and workshops addressed to young people. A Festival of international level is the Ocarina Festival, a kermis dedicated to the instrument of ocarina, with musicians and manufacturers from all over the world. Ocarina is an important tradition for the Municipality of Budrio. It was born in Budrio in 1853, thanks to the musician Giuseppe Donati. There is a music band called Gruppo Ocarinistico Budriese that carrying out a centennial music tradition, that links permanently the name of Budrio to ocarina tradition. The above mentioned Festival is organized by the Municipality of Budrio and it envisages concerts, expositions and popular dance, involving the entire local community on top of other realities around it. Among the theaters, the Teatro Consorziale is the heart of the cultural activity of Budrio, nevertheless there are many other places in the Municipality where one can propose activities, in a perspective of shared fruition of culture. Teatro Consorziale, has been a headquarter for Civil Voluntary Service for many years now, under the supervision of the Culture Department of Budrio Municipality. It hosts volunteers every year who are involved in hosting artists and in the cultural activities promotion on social networks and websites of the Municipality, in cooperation with the Communication group composed by young volunteers of the district. Another social meeting point as occasion for sharing is theatric workshop attended by young people. Depending on volunteers’ request, other workshops and theater seminars can be activated. To support young people there is CIOP, an info point to give advices about vocational guidance, enrollment in school or training courses or professionalizing courses, interviews, and helps unemployed people. The service provides guidance activities in cooperation with middle and secondary schools of the Municipality, with direct intervention and individual support in transitional moments (ex. middle school-secondary school); in the Municipality district there is a secondary school focusing on sciences and technique. The library consists in a social meeting point as well, on top of learning place and foreign languages study place. The Municipality pays serious attention to young people as a target group in its territory, putting in place several activities of artistic and cultural promotion touching many fields such as music, theatre, dance and intercultural dialogue. Young people indeed can benefit of the services the library offers (courses, workshops, expositions, books presentations) and they can make proposals themselves. The Municipality organizes cultural visits for schools, involving young volunteers under the supervision and with the support of the team working for the Municipality. The Culture Department aims to promote youth initiatives and contact with different contexts (schools, libraries, youth centers), through the creation of a network between youth local centers, the use of web sites, newsletter and social networks. The goal is to foster active citizenship of the community and make it more aware of the cultural matters, promoting art in all its shapes and figures through voluntary work as well.
