Gloria Fuertes School in Alzira is a public multilingual school created 13 years ago.
The main feature of the center is that it has been applying a multilingual experimental project (currently, it is only applied in primary 3rd to 6th grade). The project consists on teaching and learning all the subjects through English (80% of the curriculum). In our case, the foreign language is English which is combined with the other two official languages (Valencian and Spanish) to
foster the development of the students' communicative competence. This project was the basis of our training work through Erasmus plus+ (Action K1 / K2) during the period 2014-2020 due to the fact that education and training play a crucial role in the challenges of
Europeanisation and internationalisation of our institution. There are around 40 teachers and more than 400 students.
In our school there are 19 different languages and cultures. So the linguistic and cultural diversity is an essential element to consider when planning, especially the festivals and cultural week due to the high benefits that diversity offers.
According to our experience (with language assistants and volunteers that we had last years) it is much richer if they have access to
different educational stages and a variety of methodologies. We want to get volunteers, students and teachers working together sharing, developing and fostering high standard values that are key in the current society.
