World Youth Alliance Croatia (WYA Croatia) is a national chapter of global organization of youth devoted to protection and promotion of human dignity and human rights. World Youth Alliance has been established in 1999. in New York during the Conference on Population and Development at the United Nations.
Since then, WYA has grown to include tens of thousands of members around the world with six regional offices, all dedicated to the defense of the dignity of the person through education, culture, and advocacy.
WYA Croatia gathered around 70 young members divided in eight teams (education, culture, advocacy, media, fundraising and project management, human resources, bioethics and project team for implementation of educational program named Human Dignity Curriculum).

Regular annual programs:
1. Certifed Training Program – education of human person and human rights. It presents a summary of philosophical, historical, and modern day texts that focus on the dignity of the person and human rights. Those who complete Track A are equipped to articulate and defend the principles of the dignity of the person within the public square.

2. Human Dignity Curriculum - An innovative program that focuses on personal development and informed decisions related to students’ sexuality based on an understanding of themselves, and in respect of their own human dignity and the dignity of others. Each lesson focuses on the “big picture” theme of how a proper understanding of the human person leads to human flourishing—helping students to understand and develop healthy habits, good decision-making skills, and a strong sense of meaning and purpose.

3. Human Rights Slam - Project is designed as a combination of a workshop and a debate in which 30 participants, divided into 5 groups work on one previously determined human right and a hypothetical case connected with that specific human right. Each group has a task to find solutions for two problems refering to the right and to the hypothetical case, using a definition of the selected right both in Croatian and in one comparative legislation. Goal of the workshop is to inform young people about human rights guaranteed in European Convention for the Protection of Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms from 1950 in a creative and interactive way.

4. WYA Week – An annual conference that gathers decision makers, academic and cultural workers and other stakeholders in multi-day dialouge about actual social phenomenas with youth. Each conference has the main topic approached from several different perspective always focusing on human dignity.

5. Prirok – Prirok is an old croatian word for verb and has been picked as a title of the cultural and educational program that gathers young, unknown writers and proffessional Croatian authors in creative writing workshops. Young writers have a chance to get an proffessional overview of their work and improve their writing skills. Prirok is a creative response to the rich but invisible literary life of society and exclusion of young people from it and to the general trend of disappearing of literary culture.

Current program:
The Collaboration Against Apathy (SUPROTIVA) project is developed in collaboration with several NGOs that have an extensive experience in working with young people and were therefore able to identify urgent problems for young people today: high unemployment rates and exclusion from the labor market, inadequate evaluation of volunteer work, low quality of free time and insufficient inclusion of young people in the society and in decision making process. These problems are evident from the statistics like youth unemployment rate and voter turnouts. Furthermore, these problems are also recognized in the strategic documents relevant for young people: EU Youth Strategy, Renewed Strategic Framework on European Cooperation in the Youth Field, Croatian National Youth Program 2014-2017 and Report on Youth from 2015.
This project is an answer to all measures whose implementation, in our opinion, lacked clear target and quality. Through the project, World Youth Alliance Croatia will cooperate with its partner NGOs and decision makers on creating better and more efficient proposals for new National Youth Program, aiming at faster and more efficient problem solving for the benefit of young people, but also for the benefit of the whole society as well, with obligatory inclusion of young people in the decision making process.
World Youth Alliance Croatia has three employees (Coordinator of programs and activities, Fundraising manager and Project Leader of Suprotiva), 30 long term and 40 short term volunteers engaged in different projects and teams.
