Our organization is a state school of secondary education and sixth form levels with a staff of 70 teachers, 650 students and over 50 years of teaching experience. We have learning branches in Valencian, our autonomus language, Spanish and multilingual subjects (English and French). It hosts students aged 12 to 18 years old. In secondary school, our students are very varied and the groups are heterogeneous, so we use methodologies that favor inclusion. We also have a group of basic professional teachings to attend to this diversity of students. With respect to upper-secondary students, they are distributed into three learning sections: the humanities branch, the scientific branch and a double artistic branch: the music and drama studies and the fine arts section. In addition, we have groups of adult students who share their academic life with part-time or full time job therefore they continue their classes at night. Our school staff participates in workshops, training courses and seminaries to keep up to date with their teaching skills.
Likewise, we collaborate with external entities such as the companies where they carry out the internships of our vocational training students, the parents' association for the organization of activities, the CEPAIM association for the attention of our immigrant students or the city council to participate in the activities it organizes.
One of our most immediate aims is integrating the European dimension in all the school fields; because our school has a team of teachers qualified for teaching in English non-linguistic subjects in all the secondary education levels. Our daily activities range from our ordinary lessons for every subject taught at school to wide variety of extracurricular activities such as reading workshops, a drama group of students, our radio innovation project called RADIOPARRA, the participation of our students in drawing, writting and music competitions, our scholar Orchard through which we work on environmental and sustainability values, our academic support program (PROA +) for newcomers or students with social support needs with which we intend to reduce inequalities and promote their integration. Every trimester we celebrate our school cultural days with special activities such lectures on women in science and culture and workshops that address topics such as gender equality, non-discrimination against minority groups or cybersecurity and also another activities designed to learn new experiences, do sport and have fun. Within our cultural days we also collaborate with the NGO (Cáritas) through solidarity activities aimed at raising funds, food and hygiene products for the most disadvantaged.
We participate in the RAPSODES innovation project of the Regional Ministry of Education, which consists of communicating in verse and music through traditional or modern languages such as rap and also in the "Read the Classics" workshop of the National Ministry of Education.
We think that having a European volunteer enrich all these activities by contributing their experience, culture and language and giving our students a broader vision of the world. In the same way, he or she is enriched by all the activities and experiences that we offer him or her.
