The “Istituto di Ricerche e Studi sull’Educazione e la Famiglia” (IRSEF) association is a private non-profit organization, 6000 members, active since 1982 at the national level in the fields of research, training and educational projects for parents. It’s a scientific researcher and a service of cultural promotion for the family, schools, institutions and society. IRSEF cooperates closely with educational Institutions, local/regional/national authorities and with other private organisations active in its same activity field. To ensure the quality and the adequacy of the educational method, associated with the severity of the contents, the IRSEF uses a Scientific and Technical Committee composed of University Professors and qualified experts as part of the educational methodology. Originally formed inside a School of Education, IRSEF in particular guides the activities that the “Associazione Genitori”—A.Ge. (parents’ Italian association) does in the school field: in this case IRSEF operates on two levels of control, verification and certification. In 2004 the IRSEF association has been accredited by the Italian Ministry of Education MIUR with Decree of Jan 23rd (protocol No. 426/C/3), among the entities authorized to conduct training and refresher courses for school staff, for methodology and didactics in the field of developmental age and relationships with families.The areas of expertise are: Research and innovation in education, Education and training, Counselling, Culture, Networking (also at international level). The IRSEF leads national, regional and local scientific workshops, educational activities, conferences, seminars, lectures, etc. concerning Educational projects, Family education, School reform, Sex differences, Teachers-parents’ partnership, Counselling, Efficient communication among parents, students, teachers and directors, Communication between teachers and students, Learning at school, The evaluation of school and in school, The orientation of education, The technology in the classroom, The vital needs of young people, Forming the personal identity in the reality of the today family, Teenagers and the digital generation, etc. always with a focus on “together in education”.The IRSEF aims to be supportive to education and family—two fundamental issues of human and social life, thanks to cultural competences and technical skills derived from study and research, through:- The diffusion among its members and the ones of the A.Ge. “mother” association of guidelines on the topics of competence;- The real and productive collaboration with who is investigating these issues, such as University professors and researchers, with the intent to bring University research to levels understandable to all parents—who daily have to deal with educational and coexistence problems.Furthermore IRSEF aims to respect cultural diversity and to promote cultural dialogue and interaction in all areas of life.Consequently, the IRSEF is committed to:- Propose guidelines drawn up with simple and current language, easy to understand, clear and that makes “fascinating” the topic;- Propose reflections, sent with timing, according to the events and the schedule;- Provide documents that give a sense of the events for what they are, regardless of the prevailing trend in the media.Over the decades the activity of the IRSEF association has been full of industriousness, with the publishing of various publications and articles concerning the family and its educational project, the parents and the school reform, the way for the independence of the child (the parents’ needs together with the children’ ones), the separated parents and the training of parents.
