From 1995 the Municipality of Bassano del Grappa, located in the province of Vicenza, has created the “Informagiovani e Città – Youth and Community Information Centre”: it is a public information and counselling service which guarantees a complete, update and pluralistic information in the fields of youth interests. This desk does not only provide young people with all information they need to make aware choices, but it tries also to promote participation among young people organising orientation, counselling projects and events. The information Centre is a well-know service, appreciated for its activities in the whole provincial area. The office is open to the users on Tuesday and to Thursday from 9.00 a.m. to 12.30 p.m. and from 3.00 p.m. to 6.30 p.m. and on Fridays from 9.00 a.m. to 12.30 p.m. There are 36 hours back office activities and 21 hours of front office work. Users can freely consult database and dossiers which contain information about different themes. The website is www.bassanogiovane.eu. The staff is complete disposal for every deepening research or advices, while users can also start their research autonomously. It is possible also to make real time researches. Informagiovane’s users are different in terms of origins, age, social conditions and educational needs. The most of users are young, age from 15 to 35, but the number of adult user is increasing (from 36 to 50 years old people). Therefore it has created a series of specialist initiatives and services:1) Eurodesk: European youth information network with the aim of informing young people about all the European opportunities in the field of culture, education, work, mobility and volunteering. This project is financed and sustained by the European Commission. From 2000 Informagiovani is of the Eurodesk Local Offices in Italy. This service is an answer to the younth requests of mobility and wants to be a motivation force towards in territory that is not so much alive to the European themes.2) European planning: Informagiovani was already accredited as a sending organisation for EVS. One of the staff’s wish for the future is to be able to potentiate this great opportunity.3) EURES: “European Employment Services”. Informagiovani is part of this European network that allows workers from all over Europe to know the available job offers throughout EU territory. For employers, EURES offers the possibility to recruit employees from other countries and to consult their CV in an European database.4) Summer Counselling Events: during summertime, Informagiovani organizes some workshops and meetings, such as “Facoltà di scelta”. This service has been created for high school students and gathers the Orientation Service’s representatives of the main universities near Bassano del Grappa (Venice, Padua, Verona and Trento) in order to introduce their courses, staying at complete disposal for individual interviews.5) Association Reference Point: it is an innovative desk offering counselling for the voluntary associations of the territory. In Bassano there are more than 200 Associations.6) Conferences: the office organises the edition of “Lavoro alla terza: la giusta formula per trovare lavoro” (“Work to find your job: the right solution to find employment”) which proposes several meetings/conferences whose entrance is free for those who are interested in finding the right information to get work, specially the yong who are looking for their first work experience. The main aim is to divulge the right information and the useful tools to apply for a job, because nowadays to find employment is really a hard work, which requires spirit of initiative, good preparation, determination, and organisation. Expert speakers conduct the meetings and the themes which are discussed consider the need of the young and the other participants of all ages. The speakers involved are part of different realities: employment agencies, psychological counselling centres, the Eures network, local business community, trade unions, the local Job Centre and the employees of the district of Bassano del Grappa. Additionally, the office organises “Explore the world”, a series of conferences conducted by experts of international mobility thought to satisfy the user’s demands regarding the study, job offers, training and voluntary work abroad.7) Others services: Informagiovani is also an Internet Point and it provides Hotel Cards; it updates also the municipally Association Database; it publishes “Cercalavoro”, a weekly publication with all job offers, training opportunities in the territory and abroad. For the summer it publishes “Informavacanze”, an informative booklet distributed to primary and middle school students, listing all the events, camps and activities for the summer. Moreover there are also “Euronews”, dealing with European matters and opportunities, and “School news”, dealing with school issues, programmes and awards.
