A szervezet leírása

Social Hackers Academy is a Greek non-profit organization, founded in Athens, Greece, in September 2017. We aim to integrate social vulnerable groups (refugees, migrants, unemployed Greeks & EU Nationals and in the future, people with disabilities), into Greek society. We believe that social inclusion and solidarity are important values in the local community. We strive to achieve this by educating young individuals in digital skills to provide them with more opportunities to enter the job market and integrate into society. We teach the essential knowledge required to support the IT sector with concepts such as building websites and internet applications. By capitalizing on web development education and thus enabling the acquisition of job placements in the IT industry, we aim to bridge the gap between lack of web development skills in the Greek labour force and the high unemployment rates in the European Union. This mission can become very effective because the Greek economy is going through a digital transformation, making the need for technological understanding and skills all the more relevant. Τechnology-related professions are forecasted to increase by 30% between 2020 and 2024. Thus, we are in the centre of economic modernisation and have the potential to provide significant positive impact and social responsibility in the Greek economy.

Our tech educational school offers full stack web development, wordpress training and basic computer skills class providing the essential skills needed for any individual to enter the labour force. We have embraced a flexible and adaptable way in achieving our mission, allowing us to partner with many different organisations and expand our beneficiaries' pull. Our management team is always up to date on market trends and activities centered towards a society with solidarity and have thus designed our programs in accordance with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. We pursue qualitative education programs (SDG Goal No 4), prevent our beneficiaries from remaining unemployed (SDG Goal No.8), eliminating inequalities against multicultural groups (SDG Goal No.10) and partner with organisations to share and maximize resources to be more efficient (SDG Goal No.17). The management team and Social Hackers Academy’s operations are run by volunteers, teachers, part-time and full-time employees from different backgrounds. Due to our cultural diversity and multicultural working environment, we have established a culture and community where solidarity can prevail. Despite our fairly young history, we have been consistently growing our organisation, our programs and our network to fully support and provide for vulnerable groups.
