NucliSol - Jean Piaget - Association for Child Development, Integration and Solidarity is a private social solidarity institution (IPSS within a scope of the national framework) operating in the area of education, health and social intervention. Institution main objectives are the creation and organization of kindergartens, schools and centers for the reception and accompaniment of marginalized, disabled or at-risk children and adults, support centers of economically and socially deprived families, centers of protection and accompaniment of the elderly, disabled and individuals unable to work, centers of support and protection in preventive and curative health.
NucliSol is composed of 15 entities with locations from north to south of the Portugal.
The story of NucliSol- Jean Piaget goes back to 1983, when it began its activity. Only after nine years, in 1992, it adopts its current designation: NucliSol-Jean Piaget - Association for Child Development, Integration and Solidarity.
NucliSol's basic areas of intervention are as follows: Kindergarten, Pre-primary Education, Free Time Activity Centers and Basic Education. Additionally, it manages the Technological courses, The Center for Temporary Reception of Children at Risk, The Home for the Elderly, The Home Support Service, The Center for Occupational Activities and the Social Canteens.
In terms of pedagogical organization, Project Work is the basis of NucliSol Methodology and Pedagogy. It has its roots in the Cognitive and Constructivist Theory of the psychologist and pedagogue Jean Piaget, who conceives the school as a democratic and ecological educational community, where ideas are constructed through debate with others and based on experiences. The educator / teacher is considered a creator of contexts, actions and challenges for learning to occur and the child as an agent of their learning process.
NucliSol conducts following activities: care provision, education and training, vocational and professional education, collaborating with other social entities that pursue similar objectives.
In the area of health, Nuclisol manages the CAPS - Center for Preventive Health Care, which responds to the difficulties of children and young people, with or without associated disability, promoting their education and inclusion and helping to build a workable life project. The Interdisciplinary Intervention Program identifies, characterizes and contemplates all information related to the competencies and needs, expressed by the child or young person and indicates achievable objectives, monitored by the Technical Team. The Center for Preventive Support in Health is organized in three centres - Early Childhood, Children and Youth and Family Intervention. Best professional practices in the area of mental health are proved by the healthily seal attributed by the order of Portuguese psychologist. Within the health area also Nutrition part can be distinguished with NucliSol being awarded by the Lisbon City Council of the Healthy Seal, which identifies good food practices in social and educational facilities.
Despite the formal education component, NucliSol also invests in non-formal education, exploring the arts, music and sport as educational and social intervention tools. Entity implements Community Intervention Projects, seeking to contribute to the development of communities where is inserted and for their social structure cohesion. Those community development and social intervention projects are dedicated to disadvantaged groups. NucliSol has relevant experience in this area, promoting parental skills and inclusion through sport, as well as in the implementation of training projects for unemployed and elderly adults.
In the area of parental education, within the BIP-ZIP project called Adventure of Parenting best practices book was published presenting a model of parental training program.
In the social area, in addition to the community development projects, domestic support services, nursing homes, the center for occupational activities and social canteens, NucliSol has also a social support office and collaborates with the commissions of protection of children and young people. Currently is applying for the Protective Seal, recognition given by the national commission for the protection of children and young people to educational and social entities which in their activity promote children's rights and the prevention in the risk contexts.
Nuclisol Jean Piaget official partners are: Local parishes appropriate to the territory of intervention and the respective municipal Chambers, the Institute of Child Support, The Social Adventure Association, Universities: Jean Piaget Institute, Lusiada University and ISCTE. In addition to these entities, we have established partnerships with national and international entities aimed at increasing global organizational visibility.
