The Cultural Center Babylonia was founded in 2014 in order to promote freedom of expression, education, creativity and intercultural dialogue. Its major objective is to foster values such as tolerance, respect among coexisting cultural groups with different ethnic and cultural backgrounds, and solidarity in order to combat and eliminate prejudices and stereotypes.
More specifically, the Cultural Center Babylonia promotes the intercultural contact as well as the study of different cultural elements of Greece’s neighboring countries, both in the East and the West, and targets to build strong bonds among them. Within the same multicultural context, the center aims at creating a fertile ground for the cooperation and the exchange of educational and artistic information. To this effect, both short-term (intensive) and long-term seminars are organized on a wide range of subjects, such as foreign languages (English, French, German, Italian, Spanish, Arabic, Serbian, Russian, Turkish, Chinese), sign language and Modern Greek for foreigners, international and Greek folk dances, music, theater and acting, photography, painting and creative writing seminars as well as a variety of cultural activities including movie screenings, art exhibitions (of paintings and photographs), book presentations and publishing. The target group of the aforementioned seminars and activities is people of all ages and economic and cultural background; hence the center functions as an “intersection” of generations, cultures, ideas and different forms of expression.
