The Klinikum Idar-Oberstein is a 100% subsidiary of Saarland-Heilstätten GmbH (SHG). It is the largest health service provider in the region between Trier, Koblenz, Kaiserslautern and Saarbrücken and the Academic Teaching Hospital of Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz.
