The Klinikum Idar-Oberstein is a 100% subsidiary of Saarland-Heilstätten GmbH (SHG). It is the largest health service provider in the region between Trier, Koblenz, Kaiserslautern and Saarbrücken and the Academic Teaching Hospital of Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz. In the supply area Rheinhessen-Nahe the hospital has been a residential center for health services since the 19th century.
