Orion - Choose to be a Star is a non-profit, non-governmental organization, its main objective being to develop young people by encouraging them to become active citizens. The Association promotes and supports the development of solidarity and tolerance to achieve European social cohesion, developing mutual understanding between young people from different countries, artistic development and freedom of expression, as well as promoting cooperation at European level.
The mission of the Orion Association is to promote and add value to participatory education and active citizenship by developing sustainable partnerships with various institutions and individuals whose areas of activity can contribute to our goals. Through such an interaction, we intend to facilitate as many young people the exchange of experiences, ideas and visions, promoting diversity and cultural understanding.
The Orion-Choose to be a Star Association contributes to the sensitization and connection of young people through various means, from involvement in non-formal education to seminars, workshops, conferences, international programs.
Orion-Choose to be a Star Association is the only organization working with young people and young people in the small urban and rural area Alesd, Bihor County. The organization is headed by Alina Ioana Buzle, who has built a network of young people, parents, civil society, cultural and educational institutions, economic agents and public authorities around the organization. Aleşd area faces after 1989 with major social and economic problems and, therefore, problems with the integration of young people into the labor market: more and more high school graduates leave the area, looking for opportunities in the large urban areas or even outside the country. The Orion - Choose to be a Star Association aims and has already developed initiatives to make young people stay in the area. The Association works mainly with young people aged over 16 with low opportunities from the Roma community and young people coming from poor families. Prior to its foundation in April 2018, the association has been working in the form of informal youth groups, organizing debates, meetings with local authorities, workshops for capacity development and skills in various fields. After setting up, it participated as a partner in Erasmus projects, international youth mobility to generate new opportunities for young people in the area who have as their only source of knowledge and experience the school. The Orion Association - Choose to be a Star identified locally many problems that need solutions that can be put into practice with the help of young people, for young people, through various methods and practices that effectively reach and help young people to develop harmoniously, to direct them correctly towards healthy maturity, to involve them directly in the development of their community.
