kuruluşun tanımı

YMCA North Staffordshire, based in Stoke-on-Trent, is one of over 120 YMCAs operating across England. Each YMCA is independent and responsive to local need. We engage children and young people between the ages of 0-25, including their families, so that they belong, contribute and thrive.

Our projects work within four clearly defined work streams:
Accommodation, Family Work, Health & Wellbeing and Training & Employment.

Accommodation: 300+ young people are accommodated annually at our main site. Each young person is designated a Personal Development Coach, who carries out detailed assessments and undertakes action plans to ensure engagement with services to move them forward. We also affordable housing for young workers throughout the city.

Family Work: Our Family Work team offers a range of family support, child contact assessments and group work to over 700 children, young people and adults adversely affected by family breakdown, conflict, separation and behavioural issues. This specialist team comprises highly-trained family coaches and social workers.

Health and Wellbeing: Our Sports and Activity Centre offers a fully equipped gymnasium, indoor and outdoor football pitches, the area’s highest climbing wall and an international standard multi-purpose sports hall. The Centre operates successfully as both a commercial facility and as a specialist centre, encouraging participation in sports and healthy lifestyle activities amongst disadvantaged groups. In partnership with our local health commissioner, we also operate a Health Zone on-site, engaging young people in preventative health services.

YMCA North Staffordshire also offers youth clubs and activities on an open-access basis from locations across the city.

Training and Employment: We offer the ‘Connecting Choices’ programme, funded through the European Social Fund, through which Personal Coaches offer an intensive, holistic service to residents aged 19+ who need extra support to help them progress into training, education, volunteering and work. This includes coaching, training, support with job searches and accesses to specialist services.

We also offer the National Citizen Service which is open to all 16 and 17-year-olds. NCS helps young people build new skills for work and life, whilst taking on new challenges and meeting new friends. NCS brings together young people from different backgrounds and helps them develop greater confidence, self-awareness and responsibility. It encourages personal and social development by working on skills like leadership, teamwork and communication.
