Domov sociálnych služieb pre deti a dospelých Sibirka (DSS Sibirka) - The home of social services Sibirka in Bratislava with residential form offers social and health care services to 38 clients with several disabilities in the age of 18-65. New service of DSS Sibírka - early intervention service - offers support and accompaniment for family with a handicapped child from 0-7 years.

One part of social services is lifelong education, in which we support the independence of people with disabilities based on social and life skills. In the field of work, we encourage the development of working habits, in the area of ​​everyday life - to eat, drink, dress, take care of their own hygiene, either alone or with help. Development of interest activities - art creation, music and development of sports activities - boccia. In the cognitive sphere, in the context of alternative communication, we work on expressing, recognizing, perceiving time and working with memory, helping clients understand information, communicate. Education is provided by 13 specialized educators, 35 other staff including physiotherapists, psychologists, nurses who provide therapies such as basal stimulation, art therapy, drama therapy, music therapy and work therapies that all train cognitive functions and gross and fine motor skills.

Another social service of Sibirka is a Early intervention program, which started in 2017 - for children with disabilities 0 - 7 years, which offers professional support services for the whole family provided in family environment.
Sibirka aims to:
• create social and living conditions that accept the individuality of each client,
• Improve quality of life by providing incentives that enhance the capabilities of each client,
• accompany clients during their lifetime and create a family environment for long-term clients.

Examples of our work, regular activities and how volunteers can help us:
- participation in our communities:
- dramatherapy - help creating material for community, be part of a play- for example with hand puppets, help with arranging space and clients
- musicotherapy - play on musical instrument with therapists (piano, guitar, drums, koshi, triangle...) or sing, come with songs typical for volunteers country
- boccia - help clients to play this game according to their skills and also try to play this game
- social community - be part of a social group, introduce to clients, talk about their interests and ask other about theirs
- cognitive training - work with tools that empower and support clients memory, attention, thinking, imagination...
- ergotherapy - help clients to develope skills of self-sufficiency and encourage their working habbits by doing laundry, cleaning, cooking and watering together
- bibliotherapy and others
- get a space for their new ideas, which can support growing clients skills
- help clients with art therapy:
- help them to choose colors and brushes for painting
- help clients to prepare and model from clay, glaze and paint the product
- sell products during events in Sibirka or on special markets
- help with clients mobility, since our clients are on wheelchairs and are not able to move by themselves they need support of another person to see new things and places or to get items that they like
- get and support a new social skills - for example help them to introduce themselves, behave in different places like caffee, cinema, theatre, park, with kids...
- keep contact with major society and culture
- seeing new places and things and learn about them, for example going to museums, galleries, nature
- help with feeding clients, helping them to hold cutlery, to prepare meal, to wash after eating
- be part of group activities with parents and their kids from early intervention service, for example during Creative wednesdays, when they are working with clay or paint- helping children to create products from clay
- attend and help during events with parents and their kids of early intervention service
