Kultur & Art Initiative e.V. was established 17 years ago and it is an intercultural and intergenerational non-profit organisation composed of members from different nations, age groups with different professional backgrounds who have got professional experiences in youth, refugees, migration, non-formal education and media production for many years.

Kultur & Art Initiative e.V. develops and implements intercultural projects. Our aim is to realize projects with people of different ethnic origins. Our concept is based on the contents of social and intercultural integration. We want to work against passive cultural consumption by using active cultural work.

We are strengthening our competencies in fostering local well-being through formal and nonformal education in order to help local organizations and to create a link with the European level, starting a fertile cooperation both with Erasmus+ Programme and Partner Countries. In this way, we are developing also competencies in working with grassroots level organizations to strengthen their skills and to lead an important role in the present and future of the local community in cooperation with others at a European level. This is one of the project in which we have experienced the production of videos. These videos are very effective tools to foster cooperation and exchange among the organizations involved. They can communicate and share their products via online platform and social network, in order to update project progress and to gain new inputs.

Kultur und Art Initiative e.V. facilitators and youth leaders are also involved in the events of the international and national projects where participants are also adults and expert in education.
We want to initiate concrete actions for young people on the way of developing entrepreneurship, promoting mobility and helping them to have direct contact to labour market.
We work together with many schools and arrange “culture and school” projects. Besides, we are also carrying out creative projects and new media workshops with refugees, asylum
seekers and migrants on a national and international level. Now our ongoing project is barrier-free intercultural film & music making / language courses for the refugees from Syria, Eritrea and Afghanistan.

We offer creative and project-orientated opportunities to our participants in addition to media educational workshops and international youth exchanges. In this context we organise “Erasmus+” projects and we work in the fields of youth policy and youth work development. Our association provides opportunities for extracurricular youth work; workshops, performances, support in execution of projects. The offers are free of charge and suitable for those who are interested in.

We have been cooperating with North Rhine- Westphalia, the culture team of City of Detmold, LWL, Federal Foreign Office, the Hochschule Ostwestfalen-Lippe, the Hochschule für Musik Detmold, local radio communication and television and some local associations.

Our office is in Detmold, by the culture factory Hangar 21 in Detmold.

Seit 2002 besteht die Kultur & Art Initiative e.V., ein gemeinnütziger Verein, ein
interkultureller und intergenerativer Verein, dessen Mitglieder, verschiedener Nationen,
Berufe und Alter, mehrjährige Erfahrung in pädagogischer und medienpädagogischer
Arbeit haben.
Unser Ziel ist es, mit Menschen verschiedenster Herkunft, Kunst und Kulturprojekte in der
Region und im Ausland zu entwickeln und zu gestalten, wobei unser Konzept auf Inhalten
wie soziale- und interkulturelle Integration beruht. Wir wollen dem passiven Kulturkonsum
mit aktiver Kulturarbeit entgegenwirken und werden den Teilnehmer unserer
Veranstaltungen kreative- und projektorientierte Angebote vorstellen.
Der Verein macht Angebote in der außerschulischen Arbeit, wozu Veranstaltungen,
Festivals, Workshops, Performances, Unterstützung bei der Durchführung von Projekten,
medienpädagogische Beratung und Ideenpool gehören.
Angesichts der gegenwärtigen krisenhaften Situation in Europa (und unter
Berücksichtigung der Tatsache, dass Jugendarbeit, non-formale Lernaktivitäten und
Freiwilligenarbeit einen bedeutenden Beitrag dazu leisten können, die Bedürfnisse von
Flüchtlingen, Asylsuchenden und Migranten zu adressieren und/oder entsprechende
Aufmerksamkeit in den lokalen Gemeinschaften zu erhöhen) wird besondere
Aufmerksamkeit auch darauf gelegt werden, diejenigen Mobilitäts-Vorhaben zu
unterstützen, die Flüchtlinge, Asylsuchende und Migranten einbeziehen.
Seit September 2006 organisieren wir in der Kulturfabrik Hangar 21 Workshops und
unterschiedliche Kulturveranstaltungen. Im Dezember 2007 haben wir unser Büro im
Kulturfabrik Hangar 21 bezogen und nutzen für Veranstaltungen und Workshops die
vielfältigen Räumlichkeiten. Wir arbeiten mit dem Land NRW, der Stadt Detmold dem
KulturTeam, Regionalfunk und Fernsehen und einigen örtlichen und Internationalen
Vereinen zusammen.
