Arcigay Lecce is a non-profit association, working for the construction of a laic and democratic society in which individual freedoms and human and civil rights are recognized, promoted and guaranteed without discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation, gender identity and any other personal and social condition, and in which the personality of each individual can be realized in a context of peace and peaceful relationship with the social and natural environment.

The values on which Arcigay Lecce's action is based are:

• Respect for and promotion of human and civil rights;
• Laicity and democracy of the institutions;
• The social inclusion of each person and the rejection of any discrimination;
• The harmonious relationship between each individual and the social and natural environment;
• Freedom, equality, solidarity, non-violence, peace, the rejection of all totalitarianism;
• Internal democracy, the participation of members in the life of the association, the transparency of decision-making processes.


Arcigay Lecce is specifically committed to:

• Create the conditions for the affirmation of the full realization and visibility of every gay, lesbian, bisexual and transsexual person and transgender;
• Fight prejudice, discrimination and violence in all their forms, including through the training and updating of volunteers, social workers, educators and teachers, public and private workers;
• Provide social-psychological and existential support services, health support, friendly telephone lines, cultural production and programming;
• Promote the socialization of gay, lesbian, bisexual people through activities and aggregative and recreational facilities;
• Raise awareness of civil rights issues, the overcoming of prejudice and the fight against discrimination in public opinion through the intervention of the mass media and the activation of its own tools and opportunities for information;
• Fight for the abolition of all forms of legal discrimination relating to sexual orientation and gender identity and expression, and for the full legal recognition of the equal rights of lesbian and gay couples;
• To be pressure force on institutions and political entities to implement anti-discrimination practices and support the action of the association;
• Build a dialogue and alliances with other associations, trade unions, social forces and movements in order to strengthen the fight against discrimination and prejudice and contribute to a broadening of the freedom and equality of all individuals;
• Support the actions and demands of bisexual, transsexual and transgender people and the women's movement.
• Promote the social inclusion and esteem of people with HIV, encouraging their work and presence at all levels of the association;
• Combat discrimination against people suffering from sexually transmitted diseases, with particular reference to HIV;
• Promote a free, conscious and informed sexuality. To promote sexual education and the knowledge and dissemination of safe sex practices.
