The entity is born of social need and lack of resources in education, information, training and design of programs for the active participation of children and youth in the city of Guadalajara and its province.
Therefore, the activity of the entity focuses on programs and projects focused on children and youth and their rights, always seeking union, mutual understanding and networking with groups, entities and other organizations that work with children and young people, and those who can take advantage of the resources and benefits for these.
The entity manages the youth center of Molina de Aragón, also working on gender equality and educating in the classrooms of the educational centers with the "feminist reading club", promoting the active participation of young people. The entity carries out the management of public spaces, especially those for young people, promotes the creation and implementation of projects and the decentralization of youth information by having young people themselves developing the role of informants. It also implements leisure activities for young people, interaction, training, promotion of youth associations and active participation.
Likewise, the entity is a defender of the rights of children and adolescents, promoting their listening and the advice of children and youth.
Currently La Maraña works with the following participation groups for children, adolescents and youth:
1- UNICEF's Child Friendly City program builds on three fundamental pillars:
- Children at the center of local policies
- Child and adolescent participation
- The alliance between local actors.
Within this program is the Councils for Children and Adolescents. With these councils it is intended that participation be real, where children and adolescents can not only give their opinion, but also be participants in the life of the municipality in terms of childhood and adolescence, thus promoting the right to child and adolescent participation. .
The Councils of childhood and adolescence are made up of children and adolescents under 17 years of age.
2- Youth Correspondents: This program is developed with boys and girls from school, currently aged between 3rd ESO and 1st BACH, They are groups of adolescents and youth not associated who voluntarily collaborate with our entity to disseminate youth information. We have correspondents in both Guadalajara and Molina.
Participation School: with this program we work in the rural environment. In it we have young people from 12 to 17 years old. We work at leisure from the right to participation. Currently, we have the largest group in Molina de Aragón with ages between 12 and 14 years.
3- Guadalajara Youth Forum: it includes the group of youth correspondents, as well as youth not associated, as young associates belonging to other youth, sports, cultural, etc...
