A szervezet leírása

The Genshagen Foundation is a non-profit foundation under civil law. Its founders are the Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and the Media (BKM) and the State of Brandenburg. The board of directors consists of Professor Dr. Rita Süssmuth and the managing board members Dr. Angelika Eder ("Art and Cultural Education in Europe") and Dr. Martin Koopmann ("European Dialogue - Thinking Europe Politically").

Europe is a political and a cultural project. The Genshagen Foundation is dedicated to these fundamental aspects of European unification as a place of encounter and dialogue between art, culture, politics, business, science and the media. As an interface between civil society and state, the foundation has been active since 2009 in the fields of "Art and Cultural Education in Europe" and "European Dialogue - Thinking Europe Politically".

The Foundation's aim is to strengthen Europe in its cultural diversity, political action, social coherence and economic dynamism. It pays particular attention to Franco-German and German-Polish relations and the Weimar Triangle. The trinational character of the Foundation and its European orientation are reflected both in the expertise of its staff and the composition of its committees as well as in the profile of its publications.

Through its diverse activities, the Foundation aims to contribute to the search for new approaches and solutions to current and future challenges in society and politics. In doing so, networks of different social groups are linked across national borders or newly established and promoted. This happens in a place where contemporary art has an impact and finds space.

Situated away from, yet within easy reach of, the capital Berlin, the Foundation offers an ideal framework for a decelerated dialogue and for a constructive exchange of experiences, which brings together different perspectives and makes it possible to outline new development paths for the European project.

Die Stiftung Genshagen ist eine gemeinnützige Stiftung bürgerlichen Rechts, Stifter sind die Beauftragte der Bundesregierung für Kultur und Medien (BKM) und das Land Brandenburg. Der Vorstand setzt sich zusammen aus Professor Dr. Rita Süssmuth als ehrenamtliches Vorstandsmitglied, Dr. Angelika Eder, geschäftsführendes Vorstandsmitglied des Bereichs Kunst- und Kulturvermittlung in Europa, und Dr. Martin Koopmann, geschäftsführendes Vorstandsmitglied des Bereichs Europäischer Dialog.
Europa ist ein politisches und ein kulturelles Projekt. Diesen grundlegenden Aspekten der europäischen Einigung widmet sich die Stiftung Genshagen als Ort der Begegnung und des Dialogs zwischen Kunst, Kultur, Politik, Wirtschaft, Wissenschaft und Medien. Als Schnittstelle zwischen Zivilgesellschaft und Staat agiert die Stiftung seit 2009 in den Arbeitsbereichen Kunst- und Kulturvermittlung in Europa und Europäischer Dialog – Europa politisch denken.
Ziel der Stiftung ist es, Europa in seiner kulturellen Vielfalt, politischen Handlungsfähigkeit, sozialen Kohärenz und wirtschaftlichen Dynamik zu stärken. Ihre besondere Aufmerksamkeit gilt den deutsch-französischen und den deutsch-polnischen Beziehungen sowie dem Weimarer Dreieck. Der trinationale Charakter der Stiftung und ihre europäische Ausrichtung spiegeln sich sowohl in der inhaltlichen Expertise der Mitarbeiter und in der Zusammensetzung der Gremien als auch im Profil ihrer Publikationen.
Durch ihre vielfältigen Aktivitäten will die Stiftung bei der Suche nach neuen Denkansätzen und Lösungswegen für aktuelle und künftige Herausforderungen in Gesellschaft und Politik mitwirken. Dabei werden Netzwerke verschiedener gesellschaftlicher Gruppen über Ländergrenzen hinweg verbunden oder neu etabliert und gefördert. Dies geschieht an einem Ort, an dem zeitgenössische Kunst wirkt und Raum findet.
Abseits und doch in erreichbarer Nähe der Hauptstadt Berlin gelegen, bietet die Stiftung einen idealen Rahmen für einen entschleunigten Dialog und für einen konstruktiven Erfahrungsaustausch, der unterschiedliche Perspektiven zusammenführt und der es ermöglicht, neue Entwicklungspfade für das europäische Projekt zu skizzieren.
