The main aim of Fundacja Oczami Brata is to lead to the reality where people with disabilities are ready to live independently both in family, social and work life. The fundamental aspect of working with people with disabilities are human rights, where the most important for us is that they can decide alone about their life. The aim of our foundation is to learn them how to get back to social life and creating their own personal space and their own goals to be achieved throughout their lifes. Thanks to this they can feel that they control their life, and that they can use their skills that they have in efficient way. We start this process with finding out what particular person likes and what are they good at. Then we are starting the process of creating the area where they can develop that skill and become more independent and self-confident. This starts to change the way people see people with disabilities. They are becoming more active in society and this gives them the opportunity to also take a part in social life. People working in our Foundation are specialist who helps at each step. They create together projects, they set up the goals and the ways how to achieve that specific goal. They take individual path for each one of them. It is the most important to see the differences and pick the best path. Our foundation has special flats for people with disabilities, where they live for the specific period of time and they are learning all the basic skills needed such as cleaning, cooking, shopping, taking care of themselves. Additionally we have the workshops where we teach them skills connected with possible work they can do. People are learning how to use computer, sewing machine, printer, they are doing gardening and other rather simple but needed jobs.

Outside of actions connected strictly with people with disabilities we also work with youth from our community. We are going to schools with different kind of workshops. We teach them about disability, how to write a project, ecology. We want to make the space for youth people so they can develop their skills and ideas. We are trying to be open for their ideas rather than giving them prepared options. As also young people we know how important for youth is to have a voice and have a voice that matters. In schools we mostly listen do the teacher, but young people also have great perspective for many topics and it is really important to let them speak. We want to show to our youth all the positive aspects of Volunteering and participating in projects that gives them plenty possibilities. We want to make them understand the importance of taking action and understanding the possibilities that stands in front of them.

Last but not least, our foundation slowly starts to write and participate in international projects. We feel that it is the time to expand our actions and the idea we have. We are young people and we want to develop more. We are very well known in our country and we feel it is the time to do something more and give the opportunity for our Volunteers and participants of workshops more things to do and let them to learn more, explore the world, learn languages. People we work with mostly has to little opportunity to do such things. We believe that with the help of international projects we can really change the world.
