The institute for culture, sport and youth of Municipality of Tolmin is a public institution established to perform administrative, professional, organizational tasks in the field of culture, sports and youth activities.
The basic goal of the Institute is to support culture, sports and youth in all its segments, especially the activities of children and the youth. The aim of the institution is to establish conditions for quality leisure time for children and young people.
In the field of youth, the Institute takes care of the preparation of the annual program of activities for children and the youth in the municipality. The institute establishes a youth space that operates in the local community in order to enable the establishment and maintenance of contacts between young people, promotes social integration, active participation and social responsibility, promotes volunteering and non-formal education, works in the field of youth information, organizes and carries out various activities of interest. The aim of the institute is to ensure quality leisure time for children and young people, as well as promotion of a healthy lifestyle.
In accordance with the Local Program for the Youth in the Municipality of Tolmin, entitled We are - we will (2017 - 2022), the vision of the Institute in the field of youth refers to the successful operation of the youth center. We want to provide young people with an accessible, friendly and open space that would offer quality spatial and technical infrastructure and appropriate activities and projects that would motivate children and young people and enable them to develop in their life and professional path.
The target group is young people in the age group from 15 to 30 years and children, from 5 to 15 years coming from the municipality of Tolmin.
The institute is based in Tolmin. Tolmin is a small town in northwestern Slovenia. Tolmin stands on the southern rim of the Julian Alps and is the largest settlement in the Upper Soča Valley, close to the border with Italy. It is located on a terrace above the confluence of the Soča and Tolminka rivers, positioned beneath steep mountainous valleys. Location offers endless posibilites for outdoor activities, such as hiking, mountain biking, water sports, skydiving, etc. Tolmin has an old town, a modern library, an athletic stadium and quality sports fields. Tolmin also have a rich cultural heritage and natural attractions. The Municipaliy have 11.000 inhabitants, the town itself 4.000. Tolmin is by car two hours away from the capital of Slovenia, Ljubljana.
