AIAB Umbria is a social promotion association that has organic agricultural producers, agronomists and citizens-consumers among its members. Currently there are about 300 members who join the association.
Among the main actions it has undertaken over the years, there is the political and cultural representation of the organic sector; the design and consulting activity; training for business owners, collaborators and agronomists; the promotion of organic farming through information activities (campaigns, conferences and seminars) as well as services to members and in particular the creation and operation of the Organized Supply and Demand Group - G.O.D.O. - which was founded in 2005 and has been supplying organic products from companies belonging to the regional and national Aiab system to Umbrian citizens weekly for 15 years.
At the regional level it participates in the Green Table (all public, private and administrative entities operating in the agricultural, forestry and food sectors) and in the Supervisory Committee of the Region. It is a member of the Arpa Umbria forum, of the evaluation committee of the management plan of the Trasimeno Lake Regional Park.
Over the years it has developed collaborations and projects with numerous local associations.
In addition, it deals with social agriculture both at a regional and national level, being one of the founding members of the National Association of Social Bioagriculture.
It carries out research on organic farming issues mainly together with Firab (Italian Foundation for Organic and Biodynamic Agriculture Research) and is engaged in various solidarity initiatives together with other associations.
Since 1997, the year of its foundation, Aiab Umbria has carried out projects that have mainly affected food education, sectoral supply chains and distribution platforms, the short supply chain, food and wine / cultural routes, social agriculture, legality in agriculture and international cooperation.

In particular, in the last 3 years it has participated in projects:
• Agri Social Network: Operational Group on Social Agriculture. Period 2020-2021.
• Go bio: Operational Group on BioAgriculture, Innovation and Organization. Period 2020-2021.
• Wellness Project: food education, agricultural workshops, visits to organic farms and information on healthy lifestyles Period 2020 - 2021.
• Eco Bio App: implementation and development of an application for environmental and economic self-assessment for use by organic farms. Period 2017-2020.
• We cultivate Talents: agricultural workshops for social inclusion. Period 2020 - 2021.
• Protection of rights and advocacy (section on fighting poverty through the recovery of food from distribution chains). Period 2020 - 2021.
• Bio Fast Prime: optimization of logistics in the regional organic sector. Period 2019-2020.
• Economic Recovery Syria - section of the project "Local economic development through organic agriculture". Period 2019 - 2020.
• Organic Supply Chains: Forming Companies, Legality, Social Inclusion and Responsibility in the Biological supply chains. Period 2019-2020.
• Maliki's greenhouses: Social agriculture for social inclusion in the Montemorcino agri-solidarity park. Period 2018-2019.
• Design, Do and Lean It: Experimental development as a tool of strengthening the collaboration with work-life and educational organization. Period 2017-2019.

It has recently activated specialist internships in agreement with the Faculty of Agricultural, Food and Environmental Sciences of the University of Perugia and with professional and secondary technical institutes (school-work alternation)
On a national level, AIAB Umbria is part of a system of regional associations, sixteen in total, federated into a national association.
Overall, they primarily represent the interests of organic producers at a systemic level, through the promotion of organic farming as a model of sustainable development, based on the principles of safeguarding and enhancing agricultural, environmental and landscape resources and the healthiness of food that the agricultural system provides consumers.
It is part of the group of public and private entities with proven interest in matters falling within the competence of the Ministry of Agricultural, Food and Forestry Policies.
At the international level, AIAB is a member of IFOAM (International Federation of Organic Agriculture movements) and of Via Campesina (an international organization that brings together farmers' organizations from various parts of the world).

This organisation holds a European Solidarity Corps Quality Label. The Quality Label certifies that the organisation is able to run projects in compliance with the principles and objectives of the European Solidarity Corps.
