Pahkla Camphill Village (PCV) is a community at the Estonian countryside for adults with learning difficulties, referred to as ‘villagers’. Together with social workers, agricultural workers, (inter)national volunteers and the local community, PCV strives to be a self sustaining living environment where interdependence is the key to inclusion. Much attention is given to daily-life activities that address the skills and talents of each individual as well as activities that stimulate the development of new ones. Typical activities in this Camphill community are household related tasks; gardening; tasks connected to the farm & milk kitchen; handcrafting in the candle and carpet workshop and participating in cultural and spiritual events.
There are currently eighteen villagers divided over four residential houses. Each house has a housemother or housefather who helps to coordinate the matters of the house. During their stay, international volunteers are happily welcomed into one of the houses.
The three main pillars of Pahkla Camphill Village are: social, agricultural and cultural. For each of these pillars there are possibilities for the volunteer to contribute to the community.
