Kuruluşun tanımı

The non-profit organisation Comité Culturel Droixhe-Bressoux – Espace Georges Truffaut was founded in early 2004 to create a hub for local cultural activities. It aims to promote the cultural and intercultural development in the Droixhe-Bressoux district of Liège. Its primary mission is to encourage, facilitate and coordinate cultural and intercultural initiatives.
Espace Georges Truffaut is a welcoming place for creative and cultural exchanges. It is a meeting point for citizens of different ages and cultures. It is also a collaborative space for local associations, municipal services, and the four cultural centres of Liège, and creates a sort of “window display” for these organisations.
In this perspective, our projects are created and implemented in partnership with the district associations and organisations of the entire greater Liège area. Thinking and creating together enables us to join our strengths, encourage meetings between different groups, and helps us to be more attentive to the needs and wishes of the population.

We aim to:

- Highlight and encourage the development of creative potential of local inhabitants from different cultures by creating a social link and meeting place.

For example: implementation of the "Tissons des liens" and "Troc de vêtements" projects, linked with the topics of clothes, recycling, ethical and responsible consumption (overall project called "Fil solidaire"); collaboration with the cultural centre "Les Chiroux": plays for young children and parent-child workshops; participation in the project "Bocalocal", which makes use of the five senses and invite children aged 9 to 12 to (re)discover their neighbourhood; organisation of the following intergenerational events: "Les Zaprem" (board game afternoons), "Fête connaissance" (highlighting the resilience of the elderly and the importance of their social inclusion), celebration of “La Fête de la musique”.

- Raise public awareness about societal issues through culture, and therefore support the development of active citizenship.

Examples of actions: organising volunteer weekend workcamps in partnership with Compagnons Bâtisseurs; organising the "Les mots grands ouverts" event to highlight youth literature that is more inclusive and representative of our culturally diverse society.

To be consistent with this approach, we are also careful to:

- Support and contribute to existing projects and activities in the Droixhe-Bressoux neighbourhood.

Examples of actions: we collaborate to the organisation of events such as Halloween, Women’s Rights International Day, Bressoux-Droixhe neighbourhood party, Repair Cafés.

- Reach out to schoolchildren by carrying out cultural actions towards the schools of the district and around.

Examples of actions: networking and cultural offers for the schools of Liège, especially the ones from Bressoux-Droixhe.

Target groups: We work mainly with residents of the Droixhe-Bressoux district, but our activities are open to all inhabitants in the Liège area. Depending on the projects and collaborations, our target groups vary from young children to senior citizens. Several of our activities are intergenerational. We are also keen to encourage cultural inclusion and interactions.
