Barnstorm was founded in 1991 to create inspirational and transformative theatre for children, young people, and adults for the benefit of the wider community.

LOOKS for connections with communities not traditionally theatre-going
PRESENTS professional theatre locally, nationally and internationally for children and young people (from 4 years and older);
RUNS Barnstorm Youth Theatre for 10-18 yrs and Summer camps 9-14yrs;
EXTENDS the theatre experience with schools and other groups through a Participation & Education programme;
WORKS with communities to research, devise and present Community Theatre Projects;
SUPPORTS creatives in Kilkenny and Ireland in providing opportunities for the development of new writing through its New Writing programme with Playwriting Workshops, New Plays for Young Audiences projects, Productions, mentoring and commissions.
