The Erasmus+ Volunteer will be primarily working at the Black Box project Moon Base - our dedicated space for and by people with Learning Disabilities. You will be supporting the Outreach Officer and the Moon Base team to deliver a wide range of Arts-Based Activities. Moon Base delivers an exciting range of creative involvement which includes visual art, music, performance and other projects. There is also a weekly walking club. Other activities which the volunteer will support include Black Moon a monthly club by and for people with learning disabilities and Mini-Moon, a Saturday afternoon version of Black Moon for early years children (0-7) with disabilities and their families, these events take place at the Black Box venue

Erasmus+ Volunteer placements in The Black Box Moon Base are coordinated by Bryson Charitable Group and the Erasmus+ volunteer will live in shared accommodation with Bryson Erasmus+ volunteers based in other projects. The volunteers each have their own bedroom and share kitchen, living space and bathroom. The houses are in South and East Belfast. The volunteer will receive a weekly allowance to cover food and volunteer allowance. The project is within walking distance of the volunteer house.

Opleiding tijdens het project

The volunteer will receive an induction and orientation training on arrival in Belfast, before going to the Black Box Moon Base. There will be training in relevant policies and procedures in the project, including vulnerable adults training and child protection. There may be the possibility for the volunteer to attend other relevant training during the Erasmus+ Volunteering placement. English language training will be available via the Erasmus + OLS system.

The volunteer MUST be from one the countries listed - volunteers from other countries can not be considered for this placement. It is essential that you have a strong interest in working with people with learning disabilities, be flexible to working with people with a wide range of needs, be friendly, communicative, willing to have chats with our group members over cups of tea, be enthusiastic, have strong teamwork skills and be ready to be creative, imaginative, take part in all activities and most of all have fun! Sending organisations have been identified for this project.
