Youth Policy Dialogue with Commissioner Brunner on Europe Day
"30 Years of Austria in the European Union: What Opportunities Does the EU Offer for My Future?"
On Friday, May 9, 2025, young people will gather at the House of the European Union in Vienna for an inspiring Europe Day event. Around 125 school students from Viennese schools will take part in a dynamic afternoon of exchange and discussion.
Following welcome remarks by Patrick Lobis, Head of the European Commission Representation in Austria, opening statements by Claudia Plakolm, Federal Minister for EU, Integration and Family of Austria, and Magnus Brunner, European Commissioner for Internal Affairs and Migration, the participants will engage in a "Europawerkstatt" – a rotating workshop format with three discussion circles. Topics will include youth and the EU, security in the EU and economic and daily life in Europe.
A group photo under the EU flag will mark a moment of shared identity and the event will continue with the Youth Policy Dialogue, where selected young voices will share their visions for the future of Europe. The afternoon will conclude with closing words from Commissioner Brunner.
