Youth Policy Dialogue with Commissioner Roswall

Od: Do: [SEČ] stredoeurópsky čas

As the EU steps up efforts to tackle environmental degradation and build a more sustainable economy, it is important to listen to the voices of young people in shaping the direction and ambition of future environmental policies.

The choices made today on biodiversity, natural resources and the transition to a circular economy will have lasting effects on young people’s livelihoods, communities and future opportunities, making their engagement in policy discussions essential.

To engage directly with young Europeans, Jessika Roswall, Commissioner for Environment, Water Resilience and a Competitive Circular Economy, will meet 15 selected young participants from across the EU on 3 June, in Brussels.

The participants, representing NGOs, civil society, young entrepreneurs, farmers, fishers, foresters and rural communities, will have the opportunity to share their experiences, ideas and concerns directly with the Commissioner. The discussion, titled  'Invest in nature: youth views on impacts and choices', will focus on how investments in nature can support both environmental protection and economic resilience. Youth insights will bring a fresh perspective on critical topics such as biodiversity conservation, nature restoration and the development of a sustainable, circular bioeconomy. The participants’ contributions will help highlight the real-life impacts of EU environmental policies and the choices that lie ahead.

The dialogue will be moderated by Humberto Delgado Rosa, environmental policy expert and former Director at the European Commission’s DG Environment, who will guide the discussion and facilitate an open exchange between participants and the Commissioner.

The Youth Policy Dialogue will be held in the margins of the EU Green Week.
