Find out what the public thinks about the EU Youth Strategy 2019-2027

How has the EU Youth Strategy (EUYS) performed up to its mid-term point? The results of the Public Consultation on the EU Youth Strategy 2019-2027 (interim evaluation) are finally out and the European Youth also had a say on it.
The Public Consultation on the EU Youth Strategy received 224 responses, which now can help to inform an evidence-based and measured assessment on how the EU Youth Strategy (EUYS) 2019-2027 has performed so far. Moreover, suggestions for improvements to the implementation of the EUYS were provided through a Call for Evidence.
The Public Consultation respondents:
- came from 38 countries, including 25 EU Member States. The largest group was from Spain (23%).
- represented a wide range of stakeholders. EU citizens summed the majority (53%).
- were from different age ranges. The largest group were those aged between 18 and 23 years old (34%).
The public had the chance to express their views on:
- challenges young people faced between 2019 and 2022.
- help given by the EU or national countries to mitigate the challenges young people faced between 2019 and 2022.
- awareness about instruments associated with the EU Youth Strategy.
Additional questions were asked specifically to youth (aged 13-35). Youth engagement through instruments of the EUYS was found to be primarily driven by personal development, education, and curiosity. Respondents aged 18-23 were the most active participants, with the European Youth Portal, Erasmus+, and the EU Youth Dialogue being the most utilised instruments. Moreover, 23% of respondents were aware of their national youth strategies, while 35% were aware of the EU Youth Strategy. Plus, 32% had participated in youth-focused initiatives and activities in 2022, a majority of which in connection with the European Year of Youth 2022.
