Letting young people propose the new European Youth Goals!
L-aħħar aġġornament sar fi It-Tnejn, 23/02/2026
The European Youth Goals were drafted in 2017-2018 – a lot has happened since then and now the time has come for a re-vamp. Just like back then, young people will develop the new goals together and make sure that they represent a fully up-to-date vision for what today’s young generation want for Europe.
A taskforce of young people is in the driving seat and will lead the process of developing the new goals. The taskforce was created following an open call by the European Youth Forum and is made up of representatives from both international youth organisations and national youth councils. They recently met in Brussels to agree on the first steps towards the new youth goals.
First, they considered the outcomes of the EU Youth Dialogue where nearly 40 000 young people were asked which youth goals they think are still relevant, which ones need updating and – perhaps most interesting - what is missing?
Discussions were long and decisions difficult before the taskforce were able to agree on three different proposals. These three proposals will be put to a vote at the EU Youth Conference in Cyprus.
So does this mean that it is too late for young people outside the conference to get involved? Not at all.
Once it has agreed which youth goals will be revised and which new themes will be covered, we will launch a new round of consultations all over the EU! Get in touch with your national youth council in case you want to get involved.
