Cáritas Interparroquial de Tortosa is a non lucrative, humanitarian and charity organisation from the Catholic Church. Cáritas Interparroquial has 7 workers and more than 100 volunteers that work in different programs. Cáritas fights against poverty, exclusions, lack of tolerance and discrimination. It helps people with less resources to participate in the issues that concern their own life. Also, people with risk of exclusion are helped by giving them shelter for some days, food and resources in case they have problems with the health. In Cáritas there are different programs and projects focused on the people and their needs. Also, Cáritas offers help with food services (social dining room and monthly delivery food) and also help to provide clothes in the shop. Smještaj, hrana i prijevoz
The volunteers will be living in a house in the countryside and sharing a room (4-6 persons per room) Common spaces (dining room, kitchen, bathroom, open areas) have to be shared. Pocket money: The volunteers will receive pocket money each month: 5 euros per day. Food: the volunteer will be cooking in groups, the food will be supplied by the coordinating organization + a basket of ecological and seasonal vegetables from our insertion company. Transport: if necessary, the volunteer will be offered a second-hand bike. Volunteers can go walking to the project or go by bike.
Osposobljavanje tijekom aktivnosti
- The first week the volunteers will have a "welcome week" - On arrival and mid-term training provided by the Spanish National Agency - Cultural presentation during the first months of volunteering. - Catalan language course - Activities of knowledge of the territory - Workshops on ecological agriculture and sustainable cooking - Complementary training and activities during the project will be organized.
Profil sudionika
We expect the volunteer to like working in a social organization, be tolerant, open-minded, nondiscriminatory, multicultural, and collaborative. Able to speak some Spanish before arrival and working living in a small area (about 30.000 people). Tortosa is not Barcelona ;) We expect the volunteer to be active, to take initiative, to have the willingness to learn, and to be resolutive. The language level or professional experience is not important, we value the ATTITUDE.
