Apraksts

We see ourselves as an empowering space for new living models and learning together in horizontal and mostly self-organized structures. In May 2018, we found this place in an empty department store in former East Berlin. From the beginning, our vision was to create a place for art, culture, new ideas and initiatives where encounters between “old and new” Berliners in a colourful neighbourhood is possible. Together with a team, the volunteer will work with children and young people from difficult family backgrounds or life circumstances. As the association offers a wide range of activities and projects, the volunteer’s tasks can be diverse depending on the skills and interests: designing the website, writing a blog, cooperation in the workshops (wood, metal, planting, etc.), organization of cultural and artistic events (theatre, singing, art, dance, textile), cooperation in in café, cinema, neighbourhood festivals, organization of an international workcamp with migrants

Dzīvošana, ēdināšana un transports

The volunteer will live in a shared appartment and will have won room. Montly payments: 313 Euro/month for food arranegements, 7 Euro/day pocket money, 49€ Deutschland ticket/ monthly public transport ticket. The volunteer will receive financial support for travel costs from/to the country of origin.

Mācības pasākuma laikā

There is an English-speaking mentor, responsible for answering any questions and supervising the volunteer´s work. The volunteer can take part in the regular training for staff members. The project has a lot of experience with German, international volunteers, refugees and been a host project for the federal voluntary service for many years.

Dalībnieka profils

KulturMarktHalle has the following expectations towards the volunteer’s required skills and interests: - be open-minded, and motivated and ready to work in a culturally diverse team - willing to take responsibility and work independently - ability to work in a team - willing to bring in own skills and interests - basic knowledge of the German language would be an advantage; strong interest in learning the German language - Openness with working time flexibility, which is dependent on the current project offers - Initiative in the organization of own workshops and events is welcome
