Restoration of the tower of castle Wittlage with volunteering teams

Kinderhaus Wittlager Land gGmbH Haus Sonnenwinkel
Bad Essen, Germania
Descrizione
By creating volunteering teams, we would like to provide participants with the possibility to cooperate with young people from other countries in accomplishing a specific project while strengthening their key competences like the ability to work in a team, determination, self-reliance and solidarity with each other through a joint experience. The provider of the project "Kinderhaus Wittlagerland" works in the field of child and youth services. During the two-week project, restoration work on the interior of the 7-storey tower of Castle Wittlage in Bad Essen near Osnabrück will be carried out by about 20 volunteers. The castle grounds were closed for the public for many years. The property was bought by our business network in 2019 and we wish to re-open it to the public. Last year some initial project ideas have been already implemented, such as a café as a project of inclusion in the old farm servants' quarter, making the castle grounds available for village fairs and cultural events.
Alloggio, vitto e trasporto
Meals are included. The travel tickets (flight and train) will be booked by the host organisation and sent to the volunteers by e-mail. A leisure programme of excursions, barbeques etc. will also be offered.

Intended work will be unskilled labour carried out under technical supervision and accompanied by educational staff, in particular this means masonry and the interior timber construction of the tower. It includes pointing and plastering, sanding and painting timber, mending and/or replacing bricks and boards while adhering to conservation aspects. A specialist for occupational safety will accompany the project and monitor compliance with existing regulations. The learning results and the degree of goal achievement are determined in group discussions for reflection.
