The English-German bilingual Montessori Kinderhaus Friedenau is a kindergarten, which is located close to the Friedrich-Wilhelm-Platz Berlin (this is also the closest metro station). Maximum 100 children aged one to six years are cared for from 8 till 17/18 o´clock. Children take part in a German-English-speaking environment. The team consists of international staff with different mother tongues. Thus the children are in constant contact with native speakers and are so playfully introduced into foreign languages. The volunteers accompany the teachers and educators in their daily work. Typical tasks of volunteers can be: - Caretaking of the children - Supervising children and accompanying them while they play, reading books to them - Accompanying events or excursions to the forest, sports hall or other places - Initiating little projects with the children - Accompanying the morning or lunch circle - Kitchen work (e.g. preparing food, washing up after meal)
Alloggio, vitto e trasporto
Accomodation is provided in a shared apartment, together with two other volunteers. Each of them has an own bedroom, bathroom and kitchen are shared. Your daily travel time to work is around 30 minutes (per direction) by train. You will be provided with a monthly ticket for local public transport in Berlin and all around Germany (the so-called "Deutschlandticket"). You will receive a monthly payment for grocery shopping (around 345 €) and a monthly pocket money in the amount of 210 € (general amount for volunteers in Germany).
Formazione durante l'attività
The volunteers will receive at least one German language course and additionally the online language course via the ESC system. The volunteers get the possibility to take part in the meetings of the team and will also have meetings only with the tutor on a regular basis. For the service in this oganisation it is necessary that the volunteers have a training in food hygiene. It will be conducted by the local health office. Moreover, volunteers will take part in two seminars, conducted by the German National Agency (one during the first weeks of the project and one in the middle).
Profilo del partecipante
The motivation of the volunteer to do a voluntary service and work with children is the most important criteria in selecting the volunteers. Other criteria might be: - very good English language skills (B2/C1), since the children are bilingual - basic knowledge of the German language is an advantage, but not mandatory - desirable: initial experience in the field of education - creative, technical, sports and/or musical skills - interest in the Montessori principles Since 2021, it is obligatory that people working in kindergardens in Germany have a measles immunisation. If you do´t have it, please be prepared to get the vaccination soon after your arrival in Germany.
