The guiding principle at the "Wohnverbund Soziale Psychiatrie" (Social Psychiatry Housing) is to offer every person with mental impairments the time to stabilize and grow a perspective to move on. The staff members always offer an open ear, advise and support and promote motivation to become active, but also respect the limits of each individual within the group. Your place of employment is inpatient assisted living - clients are intensively accompanied through their daily lives. These groups consist of three to four flat mates living in single rooms and sharing a flat together. You are supporting the professionals in organizing the day or individual support measures and encouraging the residents in acquiring or maintaining skills. You are motivating the residents to participate in activities, therapeutic offers and events. You are involved in projects and will take part in excursions and leisure trips. Smještaj, hrana i prijevoz
Together with you another volunteer shall spend a year at the GPS. You will live in a shared flat. A German volunteer will become your companion to show you possibilities to spend your free time in and around Wilhelmshaven: cultural events, theatre, museums, the beach, possibilities for water sports, cafés and bars. Together you‘ll receive tickets for public transportation to explore the region and nearby cities like Bremen or Hamburg. We will need an international certificate of good conduct from you to properly train you in our facilities.
Osposobljavanje tijekom aktivnosti
At your work site a qualified and experienced practical instructor will be your continuous professional guide responsible for induction and integration into the group's daily routine. A personal mentor from our Department of Voluntary Services will be your contact person and regularly stay in exchange with you. She is responsible for the pedagogical accompaniment and might be contacted any time. In addition you will be part of our educational seminars together with a group of German volunteers and attend a German language class. At the end of your activity you will get a YouthPass-Certificate.
Profil sudionika
You are the perfect match if you are interested in social engagement, enjoy working with people with mental impairments, are ready to take responsibility and learn new things, are looking forward to work in a great team and are interested in living at the coast. German language skills level A2 or B1 would be helpful. Besides an interesting and fun work site with unforgettable moments you will get 30 days holiday, pocket money 180€, supply money 288€, 27 seminar days, German class, 49-Euro-Transportation-Ticket each month and a Youth PASS Certificate.
