The Children's Village is a youth welfare institution. We take care of children and young people who cannot live in their original families. About 40 children between the ages of 7 and 18 live in the Children's Village. The staff consists of professionals such as psychologists, teachers, social workers, youth workers, etc. Three volunteers are placed in different houses. They assist the staff with daily activities: meeting the children after school, cooking, studying, doing housework, playing and spending free time and so on. They accompany the children on excursions or when needed and organise activities for them. Work starts in the afternoon and volunteers work 35 hours per week. Volunteers learn about the Austrian social welfare system, improve their social skills, get an insight into social work, educational and therapeutic methods.
Dzīvošana, ēdināšana un transports
Volunteers will live in a shared apartment with single bedrooms, but shared cooking, washing, laundry, bathroom and social facilities. Volunteer will receive money for self supply and have the possibility to have lunch and dinner for free at the host organization on all his/her working days. Pocket money is 6 €/day. The host organisation will provide a monthly ticket for the public transport. The volunteer will take the bus to go to work.
Mācības pasākuma laikā
On-arrival training and mid-term training provided with cooperation with the Austrian NA; regular project visits, mentoring, mediation, crisis management, evaluation/reports and support for volunteers; at least one German language course.
