Opis
As a Grow Clinic Assistant, our ESC volunteers work with an integrated CHEERing team to mothers, babies, and families who live in refugee camps and shelters, primarily in the Athens region. Assistants learn to weigh and measure infants and children, arrange basic public and preventive health care (for example, dental care, reproductive health issues); and participate in the associated activities of CHEERing - liaising with warehouses for clothing and hygiene products; contributing to reports and data collection, ordering medical supplies, and attending meetings. We offer responsible, demanding roles such as dental program coordinator, field manager, and translation. The work improves health and empowers refugees in the areas of human dignity and human rights, and promotes a more just and equitable platform for refugees in Greece. Members of the refugee community are integrated into our workforce and our Board.
Smještaj, hrana i prijevoz
Accommodation is provided in CHEERing's hosted apartments, or supported in nearby apartments if our housing is full. Volunteers are provided with a food allowance based on the guidelines. Local travel within Athens (a monthly Metro card), and for volunteering activities are covered by CHEERing. CHEERing also reimburses airfares at the recommended rates.
Osposobljavanje tijekom aktivnosti
CHEERing has a training syllabus for all staff and volunteers that are related to our line of work (breastfeeding, infant nutrition), and also for additional personal development through our collaboration with Vitamin Angels and the Barca Foundation. Our management team mentor for specific areas and competences (social media, financial management, project management, infant feeding, sports and health, etc.) . All volunteers receive onsite orientation and training.
Profil sudionika
CHEERing is looking for individuals with interests in humanitarianism, public health, and the refugee field. The ability to speak multiple languages, especially Arabic, Farsi, or French, is an asset, but not essential. We prefer individuals who are looking to gain experience in this field and are able to work hard.
