CreActive Youth for Padova - Volunteering in artistic and social field

Progetto Giovani, the office of the Municipality of Padua offering services and initiatives in favour of the local youth, is looking for 1 volunteer for the project “CreActive Youth for Padova”, which will take place in the Creativity Area of the office. The volunteer will participate in an artistic and cultural experience within a shared artist studio project, MAC Studi d’Artista, one of the projects realised by the Creativity Area in order to support and sustain young artists. There, the volunteer will be able to develop their own artistic project and collaborate and share experiences, practices, skills with Italian young artists using the studies during the same period. Together, they should be able to organise workshops – related to their own art practice – for local youngsters and adults, in order to revive the place where MAC is located. Moreover, they could be involved in holding linguistic and cultural interactive laboratories in the schools of Padua.

Volunteers will be hosted in a flat rented by the Municipality of Padova and located in the city centre of Padova. Volunteers will have their own bedroom and will share the common spaces (kitchen, bathroom) with other ESC volunteers. Please note that one of the rooms is smaller than the others and that there is no living room. Monthly bus-tram tickets will be provided by the office, together with a bike, which is the most advisable way to move around the city. Pocket money and food allowance will be transferred to the bank account of the volunteers at the beginning of each month.

Volunteers will participate in two trainings organised by the National Agency: the on arrival training and the mid-term evaluation. The supporting/sending organisations will take care of the pre-departure training and the final evaluation. Specific mentoring sessions and trainings will be scheduled by Progetto Giovani.. Related to the artistic project they will collaborate in, the volunteer will participate in specialised consultancy, training and mentoring for artistic practices, curatorial studio visits and transdisciplinary meetings held with experts in the artistic sector and researchers.

We are looking for proactive, motivated, socially engaged volunteers, interested in art practices and themes related to contemporary artistic research and socio-cultural processes. It is expected that the volunteer can work autonomously on their own research and projects, bringing their own technical equipment if needed; able to manage time and activities and propose personal initiatives in agreement with the staff. Intermediate Italian language is desirable, as meetings with professionals and curators might be held in Italian. Having a personal portfolio of artworks is strongly desirable.
