Humanitarian volunteering in forestry and reserves creation, participating in environmental care activities, and in the organisation of meetings, training, dissemination, practices in agroforestry plots and ecological studies with rural communities for the strengthening of protected areas. The volunteer will support: Integrated forest management and forest plantations; Reforestation activities, activation of pollination islands, implementation of optimised irrigation systems and water harvesting systems; Creation of training material and workshops on sustainable land management (agroecological practices, management of water infrastructures, healthy and sustainable food); Organisation of events, participation in municipal fairs to promote healthy eating, creation of a honey awareness campaign in schools, awareness raising and participatory activities to involve men and women from communities; Support in the study of the ecology of protected areas for the biodiversity protection.
Alloggio, vitto e trasporto
Accommodation will be in the northern part of Cochabamba, the safest area with the best access to services (supermarkets, restaurants, hospitals, recreational areas, etc.). It will include electricity, water, gas, internet, common areas (living room and kitchen), and individual rooms with keys. In Cochabamba, there is a wide variety of affordable and healthy food (fruits, vegetables, meats, dairy products). Supermarkets offer everything necessary. Public transportation is varied and efficient, with lines passing through the volunteer's workplaces.
Formazione durante l'attività
The volunteer will participate in formal and non-formal training moments, before departure and during the volunteering experience. They will learn the dynamics of cooperation and humanitarian aid, learning to work closely with local communities and beneficiaries. They will enhance organisation, planning, monitoring and evaluation skills. They will have in-depth knowledge of the areas of intervention and their characteristics. They will strengthen listening, dialogue and intercultural approach skills. They will improve language skills. All the competencies will be certified through Youth Pass.
Profilo del partecipante
Open-minded person, with empathetic attitude, ability to adapt to new contexts and unexpected situations, ability to work in a team, leadership and conflict resolution skills, willing spirit. Preferred qualifications and skills: Degree in forestry/environmental engineering or related volunteer or work experience; Degree in watershed management or related volunteer or work experience; Degree in international cooperation or related volunteer or work experience; International volunteering experience; Ability to communicate at public and institutional level for dissemination and promotion actions.
