Descrizione

The Santiago Uno Home-School is an organization dedicated to working with minors at risk of social exclusion. Through our own therapeutic model, we address the diverse needs and problems that today's youth experience in their lives in society. Our work focuses on the different social environments of children in order to provide close and ongoing interventions, offering each individual the opportunity to discover themselves and acquire new skills that will allow them to fully develop. To this end, we carry out various projects based on educational training, healthy leisure activities, sports, a circus school, a theater school, cultural exchanges, and many other projects with which we aim to offer our youth an alternative way of life.

Alloggio, vitto e trasporto

Volunteer accommodation is provided in a rented apartment or in an apartment owned by the organization itself, with all utilities included (internet, electricity, heating, furniture, etc.). The main meal is served in the organization's dining room, together with the youth and educators. A monthly stipend is provided for breakfast and dinner. For transportation, volunteers are given a city bus pass and, if preferred, a bicycle for getting around the city.

Formazione durante l'attività

The volunteers' tasks are very varied and evolve as the project progresses. Initially, they are accompanied as they participate in the Casa Escuela activities, demonstrating how it works and supporting them during their adaptation period. They are asked to answer questions, introduce them to other professionals from the organization, and facilitate connections with the participating youth. During this contact period, preferences are outlined and possible activities in which they can participate on an ongoing basis are established, as well as the tasks the volunteer can perform.

Profilo del partecipante

For us, the ideal volunteer would be someone with initiative, eager to share their skills and hobbies, who enjoys taking on new challenges, and who knows how to listen and learn. Previous experience working with adolescents, the environment, and cultural and artistic activities is recommended. Leadership, problem-solving, and adaptability to setbacks and changes are valued. This is a dynamic project that offers many opportunities to create, design, and develop multiple activities.
