In this placement you will gain insights into a diverse ecological and sustainable agriculture. We grow 30 different types of vegetables, care for and milk 60 dairy goats, make our own cheese and run a plastic-free farm shop. Our products are also used to cook lunch for the community. So your tasks in this placement are very diverse. You will grow and harvest vegetables, take care of and milk the goats, make cheese and help out in the farm shop. After an introduction and some practical experience in all areas, you can choose your own focus of work, depending on your interests, and you can also implement your own ideas, such as building climbing elements for the goats or creating new types of cheese. If you like working outdoors, being in contact with animals and people and enjoy processing products, Blumenthal is the right place for you!
Dzīvošana, ēdināšana un transports
We eat organic and vegetarian food. As a volunteer you have your own room in a shared apartment with other volunteers. You share the combined kitchen and living room as well as the bathroom. You can also use the common room, the large garden and park. We have a car sharing, where you can become a member (depending on your license). And there is a “dance room”, meditation space and a sauna that can be used by everyone. Covered during ESC: Free food and accommodation, health insurance, pocket money.
Mācības pasākuma laikā
The community has a lot of events and rituals; we welcome you to join them and get to know the people living with you. Dancing together and spending time around the campfire, practising yoga and mediation or playing board games are opportunities to participate in community life. We also celebrate traditional holidays like Easter and have community events for many other occasions. There are regular concerts, festivals and courses in Blumenthal, to which you are cordially invited. Furthermore you'll attend two mandatory trainings organised by the ESC programme.

We're looking for participants who have... • Interest in sustainability and community living, in a rural location. • Openness to learn and meet new people. • Motivation to work in the community and on a farm. • English or German language skills (German language skills are welcome but not a requirement if you speak English). • Willingness to learn German or improve your German language skills and are happy to work 30 hours per week.
