The core objective of the volunteering project proposed by the town hall of Vienne (30 km from Lyon, France) is to promote international mobility among young people as a mean to gain new competences and grow personally as well as professionally. The mission will take place in the Youth Information Centre of the city The volunteer will share information about mobility programs with students or young workers, aged between 14-30 years old, putting emphasis on getting involved in such opportunities in order to develop a global mindset and perspective as well as sensitivity to cultural difference. His/her tasks will include giving oral presentations in classrooms, discussing with youngsters coming to the office, helping in the writing of resumes or cover letters, etc. The volunteer will also get to share his/her own culture, conduct English workshops for young people willing to practice the language (English Meetings) and work as a language assistant in a higher education college (IUT)
Dzīvošana, ēdināšana un transports
The volunteer will live alone in an apartment (furnished, equipped, Wi-Fi) in a youth residence for youngsters: 18-30 years old. Charges are fully covered. Monday to Friday, he/she will have the option of eating at the municipal canteen for lunch. He/she will have to prepare breakfast and dinner on weekdays, and all the meals on the weekend. Travel expenses from/to the country (roundtrip) are fully covered by the town hall. The fees for the arrival (ex. plane ticket) are covered by the volunteer and reimbursed on arrival. Bicycle provided too. The volunteer will receive a monthly allowance.
Mācības pasākuma laikā
Two national seminars: on arrival training and mid-term evaluation, where the volunteer can meet other ESC volunteers welcomed in France, learn more about French culture, share experiences, exchange impressions, etc. Online Linguistic Support via the platform open for volunteers (French language). The volunteer will attend a one month intensive French language course at the “Alliance Française” in Lyon (60 hours). The costs of this course are fully covered by the town hall altogether with the travel costs to Lyon (20 minutes by train).
Dalībnieka profils
The selection criteria are based on different aspects: the capacity to adapt to a new environment, the solidness of professional skills, the capacity to interact with the target groups, the motivation, the openness of the volunteer, the spirit of initiative, digital skills, awareness of the culture of the home country and an interest shown to Europe, team work and the ability to work autonomously, basic knowledge of French (to facilitate the integration process). The link between the volunteers’ profile, personal motivation and the mission: international youth mobility.
